I watched the end of the Rays game. Leadoff out. Then a double. Then a routine grounder to first. First baseman underhanded a toss to the pitcher covering. Easy out. Except the pitcher dropped the ball. So the Rays runner who had moved from second to third tried to score. But was thrown out at home. Except the catcher dropped the ball.

Hopefully Buck can work some magic with an expanded roster but the problem is so.many of the guys on the 40 man and apparently in the organization are completely useless. I don't use the word Scrub lightly
The bullpen would still be a strength if we only needed it to pitch 13-15 innings each time through the rotation. We lost the depth to cover 4 innings a night when O'Day went down and Brach started slipping a bit.

NL teams should with the SP what Earl used to do with DH. List Gausman as tonight's starter, if he bats in the first PH with a hitter, then bring in Miley.
They'd just outlaw it, like they did with Earl's DH trick...

Fair enough about the save rule. In all fairness, Gary Thorne called it a save situation, and Donnie Hart there in the postgame alluded Britton getting a save...so even they don't know the rules apparently.
Well, in fairness, it's not a rule about actual baseball... it's just a rule about record-keeping... which is where all the goofy rules are (except for the balk rule and the new Miss Manners Sliding Etiquette rules)...
