Is Mendelsohn's character supposed to be Tarkin from the original movie? That guy was crazy good in Bloodline on Netflix. He could very well steal the show here.
He's pretty amazing in everything although he plays slimy weasels for the most part.

Well whoever that character is in this, I'm quite certain he'll be a slimy weasel, so another perfect casting job!Is Mendelsohn's character supposed to be Tarkin from the original movie? Good on you for knowing the diff between a Moff and an Admiral uniform (I guess LOL). I have no clue. But your point about the age thing is certainly a good one. He certainly appears to be in charge of something and heavily featured. Is Mendelsohn's character supposed to be Tarkin from the original movie? That guy was crazy good in Bloodline on Netflix. I believe the timeline is too close to Episode IV for the character to look that young, and he's wearing a Grand Admiral's uniform, not a Moff's.

If it's good, it was needed. If it's bad, probably not.
Are any of these in between movies 'needed'? No of course not. Just excuses to make (hopefully) cool movies and make some money.
Sure. I don't fault them for cashing in on the Star Wars empire (no pun intended there).
I just mean it seems like this is something people really want to see and while I get its Star Wars related and that gets people excited by itself, what is it about this particular story that is so intriguing?

I say the same thing about Disney doing this to Star Wars as what they're doing to Marvel: as long as the movies keep being good they can keep taking my money. I love Star Wars, I don't mind having more stories in that universe.

Dare I say there's a chance for a good Star Wars Prequel?

Not sure I trust Gareth Edwards, but with this content, it may not matter.
Rumored reshoots, behind the scenes tension with the tone, Edwards does have a bumpy track record -- and seems to go with the less is more approach -- but this looks amazing despite those concerns.
