This Baseball Analytics piece focuses more on Danks' pure stuff, but the conclusion is similar to this November FanGraphs (FanGraphs:http://www.fangraphs...-edwin-jackson/)piece comparing Danks with Edwin Jackson.

Either way, very impressive.

Awesome to see. Although I'm pretty sure that Ryan checked his swing on the last pitch.
Either way, very impressive.
Earlier in the inning, Saunders took a strike that was right on the corner, maybe an inch off the plate. The ump called it a strike, and I was thinking, "C'mon, you know that the ump is going to call EVERYTHING close." I think Ryan's check swing falls under that category. He may have checked it, but it was close enough that no umpire is calling ball four on that (and it was ball four).
What is really amazing is that more than half of all perfect games have come in my lifetime, and twelve of the 21 in the last 31 years. Could you imagine going until 2046 without one, like the 34-year span between Charlie Robertson and Don Larson?

After the Jim Joyce miscall, there is even more of a benefit of the doubt in that situation, given to the pitcher. And I'm not quite sure that's a good thing. I'd probably have called Ryan out as well though.Awesome to see. Although I'm pretty sure that Ryan checked his swing on the last pitch.

What I don't think it has been talked about enough is how Ryan was arguing with the umpire instead of running it out. And on that play with the ball getting away from AJ, he definitely had a shot to reach first. You see this too much in sports. You do the arguing after the "whistle" not while the play is still going on.
Happy to see Humber get the perfecto.

Not often do you see guys his age, have a year like they did and then bounce back to their normal selves.

His strikeout rate jumped almost five percent this season, and his walk rate fell by about the same amount. His BABIP is ten points below league average, and 47 points below his career average. His line-drive percentage is actually up, but he isn't hitting fly balls anymore, it seems (his ground ball and ground out rates have skyrocketed).
Is he on his way to being done? Or am I crazy in thinking that, even at 33, he'll bounce back and be a interesting free agent this off-season?

I wish the O's would have landed him...
Stewart and Lillibridge is, what, Tillman and Flaherty? Would you make that trade for a half-season of Youkilis?
I want to see how he does the rest of the way, and wait for a team to decline that option, before I go for him.

I'd be bothered about losing Flaherty. I don't have much faith in Tillman.
This definitely feels like a good time to go after a half-season of a decent 3B though.

If we're going to trade Tillman for a third baseman I'd rather see Headley coming to Baltimore. San Diego, of they are looking for a deal, should be all over that. Tillman would be a really nice starter in Petco Park.
