Totally agree. That's what makes it so crazy. KA had big balls to fire Ralph, the alum who took this program to heights not seen before, and then he replaced him with Randy Edsall. I know MD football isn't huge around here but to me that should be one of the biggest weird/WTF happened moments in local sports history.

After Franklin left, he had two choices: extending RF or hiring someone new. RF had only one year left on his deal. KA basically said he tried to hire someone with NFL ties, but they didn't want to do the necessary work a college coach would have to do.

Him staying on in a recruiting coordinator position would be great.   Recruiting Coordinator and RBs Coach. Done.

Recruiting Coordinator is mostly an administrative position. That's not where you want Locksley if you can keep him. You want him out doing the dirty work.

Whatever allows Locks to continue what he's been building recruiting wise, while allowing the new coach to come in, build his own offense (and hire a coordinator under him that he has confidence in).

If they hire a guy like Frost or Norvell who would call their own plays, I wouldn't have too much of a problem with Locksley staying on as "OC". He'd be involved in the offense, but wouldn't be calling plays. I don't think his coaching is bad, just his play-calling.

CSN: FOX: Chip Kelly to Maryland 'not going to happen' -- but speculation follows

It seemed pretty laughable to begin with.

If Chip Kelly ends up back in college after one season in charge of the Eagles' personnel decisions (which means I doubt Lurie bails on him that quickly) then you can look for him to be wearing burnt orange. But hey, since the Terps are set to play UT in Landover shortly, Terps fans might get an up close look at him after all.

So is the Terps pulling the unlikely upset the worst case scenario? Edsall earns more lee way with the win?

"Nobody in the locker room would leave next year because Edsall is fired," one source told IMS. "He doesn't have too many fans left in the locker room."

Zach stop believing what all the players tell you on the surface.

Anyway, great to see him go. The worst coach in MD football history.

Thank God.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Yeah, apparently this essentially went down this  this past weekend. The problem is keeping on Locksley in anyway going forward. They need to completely clean house. Forget this Edsall era ever happened. Im sorry, but he did nothing good for this program.

Excellent news.  Still gonna get pasted by OSU, but maybe we won't punt quite as often.

Oh, not out until after this week's game.  Still, good move, if way too late.  Been inevitable for a long time now, IMO.

Plank better be the one making the next hire. Sit KA on the sideline.

No need to keep him on Sat. Hes horrible but he shouldnt have to go through the awkwardness of the next few days.

Agree, just make the move now.  Wonder what the hold up is if the decision has been made.
