The talked about numbers were for 5/6 year extension. The 1 year arb numbers are different because they are for one year. They will come to a number and then they will work out something long term. Nothing to see here.

What about MoJo, hearing anything there?

Further apart than Holtby was. Arb probably...just not worth the money he's looking for.

Are the Caps and Holtby headed to arbitration???

Caps offered 5.1 million for 1 year, while Holtby asked for 8 million.  There's also this info that came out of that article...

According to multiple sources, the Capitals have held steady in offering Holtby a long-term contract worth roughly $5.5 million, while the 25-year-old’s camp has countered in the mid-$6 million range.

I had figured that a long term deal would be reached, but that might not be the case.   It's also interesting that in the potential arbitration case the Caps asked for a ruling for just a 1 year deal which would result in Holtby being an RFA again next year.  Would the Caps then trade Holtby away and go with a cheaper option in Grubauer???  Interesting situation to keep an eye on.  Here's the link to the full story.http://www.washingto...ration-numbers/

Little higher than I was hoping, but a manageable number. Good signing.

I had some hopes it'd be like 5/25, but not shocked it was what it was.

F16 inked a 3 year 6 million dollar deal from the Pens.  Fehr had elbow surgery in June and is looking at a 4-6 month recovery.

Such a great roster this year. I'm stoked. Of course it gets even better when Backy returns.

Off to a nice start offensively tonight. Some lapses defensively... not a long pre season in Hockey.

There's highlight real #1 for the #8 on the young season. Incredible.

How about that behind the back pass from Williams on that goal last night? Pretty slick play. I thought he had the redirect too.

I was pretty stoked about getting Oshie and Williams this off-season. Gonna be fun watching the top 6.

Especially when Backstrom returns. They will be tough to contain.

This team is constructed better than previous teams have been. Not as top heavy in certain spots on the roster and thin in others. Much more balanced, and if a couple of the young players continue to develop...watch out.

Kuznetsov is going to be a beast this year. Excited for more Burakovsky too.

Yeah I think Kuzi really broke out last year, I expect a lot out of him, but I think AB and Wilson could be what makes or breaks our season.

Well yeah he already broke out. But if he carries over the last 6 weeks of last season, he'll be a legit superstar.

Any word on what's going on with Ovechkin?

Just read that Ovie was benched for oversleeping and missing the morning skate.  Ovie says he set his alarm for p.m. instead of a.m. ,  as far as I know this is the first time that's happened so I'll give him the benefit of the doubt.

Yep, definitely worthy of the benefit of the doubt. Work ethic was never an issue for Ovechkin... leadership / defense, sure. (until last year)

Mad respect to Trotz though for drawing the line and sticking to it. And he went out of his way to say "it was an honest mistake."

AKA, clearly no big deal, moving on, that's not who he is, but rules are rules.

Nothing to see here... for now.
