A thread about your five favorite bands, they are one of mine.

But please, tell us more about how you hate them, and in the Marvel thread tell us more about how you hate their movies.

We just can't get enough of you telling us over and over again what you dislike.  It's the second best part of message board posting behind OldFan talking about Nick Markakis.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

I don't see how this can be anything other than "Your Five Favorite Bands", as evidenced by Pedro's infinite Hold Steady boner since they suck. "Best Bands" = "Your Favorite Bands". But here's mine. Flame away.

1. The Walkmen

2. Radiohead

3. Arcade Fire

4. The National

5. Stars

Yup. I'm that d-bag stuck in the mid-2000's indie rock wheelhouse.

People like Tom Petty play the guitar and the harmonica at the same time and they are geniuses.  But, you add knee symbols and all of a sudden you're crazy.

Pedro's raging boner for The Hold Steady is no worse than everybody's love for Arcade Fire on this board.

These are PERSONAL favorites, and who (among the music I listen to) I believe have the most musically talented band members.

1. Rush

2. Frank Zappa (Mothers of Invention)

3. Yes

4. Kansas

5. Journey/Boston/Chicago (pre-Cetera)/Steely Dan/Doobie Brothers

Cant name a single song from either of them. If its not on the radio, does it even exist?

This comes from equal parts 1) my hate for the Hold Steady and 2) busting Pedro's balls. He does seem to name drop them a lot. More than anyone does for AF here.

I'm half joking. Yes, most of today's music isn't to my taste. Which is why while driving if it isn't sports talk, it's classic rock. Which by the way, now has Nirvana and Pearl Jam in the play list! (How old do you feel now).

I look at indie music like indie movies. Once in a blue moon there is a gem to found, but most of it is "indie" because it sucks. I don't have time to sort through the garbage, I have too many other hobbies.

I'm not big into music anymore for two reasons:

1. I don't understand the hatred from fans of indie bands when one of their favorite bands goes mainstream. It means they made it! A girl I know was distraught when Mumford and Sons made it to radio. Like it was cool to like someone no one heard of, and now because everyone can hear them, oh they suck now.

2. People like this:

"Do you like Billy Joel?"

"Yeah."

"What's your favorite song?

"Piano man."

"Huh. You must not be a fan if that's your favorite song. Check out this deep cut from 1978 that he only played live twice ever...blah blah blah..."

"What, you think you're better than me?"
