I see we had Third Eye Blind nomination. Excellent choice. This thread really just makes me realize that picking the 5 best bands is an impossible task.
One that I just remembered and have yet to see mentioned is Portugal. The Man. Clearly some people here won't like them, as they very much have the psychedelic rock sound, but they've got some great stuff.
The Satanic Satanist is probably my favorite of their albums: People Say, The Sun, Guns & Dogs, The Woods are all songs I can listen to on repeat.
I think American Ghetto is a pretty good album too, my favorite song off that one probably being The Dead Dog. Basically their early stuff is awesome.
Definitely not for everyone, but I think I'd have to consider throwing them in my top 5. Then again, I could rearrange that list a million times. 5 isn't enough.

On metro coming back from The Walkmen Revenge Tour. They reunited for a tour this year. They sound amazing. Maybe better than before. Incredible.
They need a maglev train from DC to Frederick though. This ride is insane long. And I gots to pish.
