CollegeBasketballTalk: North Carolina extends Roy Williams’ contract through 2020
I don't know what will happen when they close down the college, but this is good news for him at least.

The main thing probation means is that everydamnbody who works there is gonna be miserable doing extra paperwork for the next year, documenting how on-the-case the place has suddenly become... plus, they'll flunk a bunch more students, some of whom will just be collateral damage...
The worst thing that could realistically happen is the death penalty... but UNC has more pull than SMU had, so I really doubt that happens... I think it should, but it won't....

Bo Ryan to retire after next season. He didn't give a reason, but I'm guessing it's so he has more time to yell at kids to get off his lawn.

I think the NFL is overrated. But you should really give college football a try. I'm actually more looking forward to that than the NFL for the first time.
My job is so dependent on how we do in College Football, that it's really hard to be "just a fan"...Every week i have 4-5 new "favorite teams". My yearly salary is on the line 12 Saturdays a year.
But point is taken and appreciated.

VMI reportedly holding the eligibility of the Elmore brothers hostage for $110,000
Basically, the brothers--whose father is one of the best players in VMI basketball history--left school abruptly right before the start of last season to help care for their dying grandfather. They never received a release, but each decided to transfer to another school. The school--notably not the coach, who changed jobs in the offseason--is refusing to grant their release unless they return their scholarship money, which they were originally willing to settle at $50,000 but have since raised it to $110,000. The family says they would have paid the former number, but not the latter.

Memphis announced on Wednesday that they would be honoring John Calipari in December for going into the Basketball Hall of Fame today. The fans were...not thrilled. So the school president cancelled the event yesterday with a pretty strong apology.
