See, Birdman may win even if it's not the best movie. This is where the politics of the Oscars come into play.
It's why a movie like American Sniper won't win.
Btw..I'm not even saying it does or doesn't deserve it...but the mere fact that it's a movie about acting/theatre, already gives it an edge.

The theme is creating awareness. Equal rights, civil rights, ALS, Alzheimers...American Sniper has to win best picture for PTSD.

The way I have heard it described by some makes me not want to see it.
