Ken Rosenthal (and Jon Morosi) is reporting that MLB will announces three pace-of-play rules on Friday.

https://twitter.com/...596948535656448

1. Managers must challenge replays from dugout. 2. Batters must keep one foot in box unless an established exception occurs . . .

3. Play to resume promptly once broadcast returns from commercial break.

Agreed. All very reasonable. Glad we don't have to do the stupid manager stalling to decide to challenge thing.

I'm curious to know what the "established exceptions" are. You need a good balance between allowing guys to have a minute if they need one and not undermining the whole purpose.

The managers were just going out to give the video guy time to give them the thumbs up.  Are the managers still going to be given time to get word to challenge or will they need to make quicker decisions?

There is a legitimate 4th change....   Timed pitching changes.

That does seem like quite a few "established exemptions", but otherwise it seems workable.

It's all gonna come down to whether umps grant a TO every time a batter asks for it...

Plus, I don't see anything in there about adjusting the velcro on batting gloves...

I thought I heard today on the radio that if the players do not comply with the time rules they could be fined "up to $500" -- I hope I misheard or that this is a joke.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

Too high or too low?

Too low. That's like fining me .50 for speeding.

It's more akin to the speed-camera $40 fines, with no points. Enough to be annoying, but not enough to overpunish someone.

I'd be curious to know how the punishments will work. As in, once you get a warning, do you get a fine each time you commit an infraction? Can the umpires do something to a player chronically breaking the rules?

I hope you misheard too...

The penalty oughta be levied in strikes, balls, bases or outs, depending on who sinned...

Not only should money have nothing to do with it, but X-dollars means one thing to a rookie and way less to a rich veteran...

Brandon Beachy signed a $2.75M deal with the Dodgers. Club option for 2016.

Seems like a trademark Orioles signing. Incredible value if he stays healthy. Wonder why they were not in on him?
