Testudo Times: Top targets Keith Simms, Terrance Davis, Terrell Hall visiting Maryland Saturday
Way more interesting than the article was the comments section. So apparently there is such thing as a "non-committable" scholarship offer....a program makes you an offer, but you can't commit to the offer until getting an OK from the coaching staff (WTF....Are you offering the kid a scholarship or aren't you?).
Speculation in the comments is this is why Diggs is putting off an announcement, his offer from Alabama is currently "non-committable." Which, if true, would indicate Alabama is his first choice. I can see why a kid would want to play there, but between "non-committable" offers and the over-signing that Saban is also famous for, I'd be inclined to tell him to stick his offer up his ass (and that's "committable"). But I guess when you are Alabama you can play that way and the recruits will still come. I just hope MD doesn't pass up on taking a decent player while waiting for a Diggs commitment that never comes.

Non-committable offers are one of those things that are easily overlooked because they don't get talked about much, but are one of the more despicable aspects of NCAA rules.

I'd never heard of it until now, but it sounds just as bad as over-signing. I get that the top programs are in the sort of enviable position where they can keep some recruits on hold while waiting for the bigger dominos to fall. But I don't think you should be allowed to formally extend an offer that a kid can't accept....just be honest and tell him you need to see what happens before you can offer him. I know that seems like semantics from a third-person perspective, but I would think that from the kid's perspective there might be a false sense of security with these non-committable offers vs not having one at all....which is essentially what it is. And if he waits too long, not only might he not get to go to his first school of choice, but his 2nd, 3rd, and 4th choices may have pulled their offers by then too.
Then again, changing this would require college athletics to consider what might be in the best interest of college athletes. Silly me....what was I thinking?

IMS: Smith Sets Official Visit Date for Maryland
I seem to remember reading somewhere that he initially said (after decommitting with Clemson) he wouldn't take an official visit to UM, his reasoning being that with the Corey Robinson connection plus being so close to home/having been there he didn't really need to use up one of his official visits for MD. If he meant that at the time, then it could be that either his interest is greater now or the coaches told him they don't want him to commit without taking an official....or maybe a combination of the two.

Sounds like DJ Turner suffered a really bad ankle injury in DeMatha's game today.

If there's a silver lining to this, it's that it becomes less likely for someone to poach him from Maryland.

Not a huge surprise, as he had already committed and de-committed to Toledo.

That and this is a sinking ship. I think this is likely the first of many.

What's more likely, Maryland basketball wins the National Championship this season or Dwayne Haskins ever takes a snap for the Terps football team?
If you're picking Haskins, what if it's compared to just making the Final 4?

Maryland basketball National Championship much more likely.
And if Haskins does end up here - he'll probably suck anyways. Josh Portis 2.0.

View it as a necessary evil. Yeah, it sucks to miss out on great recruits....but if most of them head elsewhere then the last excuse anyone possibly has to keep this coaching staff goes with them. MD still has several things that make a nice foundation for the next coach to like, and none of them have to do with just one recruiting class.

Testudo Times: 4-star Maryland target Trevon Diggs set to announce college decision Saturday, per report
http://www.testudoti...ollege-decision
I'm hearing that Locksley changed the position the Terps are recruiting him at from CB to WR, and that Diggs is now expected to commit to Maryland due both to his strong relationship with Locksley and the presence of Haskins, who will be with him when he commits.
