4-star Kevin Huerter becomes the second commitment for the Terps' 2016 class, joining Anthony Cowan. The 2016-17 Terps now have 5 guards set for the roster. Here is analysis on Huerter's commitment and the impact it could have on other 2016 recruits.

Awesome news. Seems like we have the backcourt sewed up for next year with Brantley, Cowan, Huerter, Wiley, and Nickens. Hopefully we can land some massive front-court and wing talent, going to need it to replace Stone and Layman and I still don't really trust Dodd or Cheko (or Bender) as more than rotation guys.

Gabriel committed to Kentucky.
They are probably done for '16. Maybe a JUCO big man. Of course, the international route is always an option.

Jalen Smith sounds encouraging. Great to be involved in so many upper echelon players, hope Turgeon can keep bringing in top classes. Exciting time to be a Terps fan.

Baltimore Sports and Life: Another SF’s the Terps have tried to get involved with is Mario Kegler (Oak Hill). Do you see him as plausible, or no?
Ermann: He’s plausible. In my conversations with his coach, who also happens to be his guardian, he’s raved about Maryland and the chance to succeed Layman. Would I call Maryland the favorites? Probably not at this point, but he’ll visit in mid-October and seems excited about finally seeing the program up close.

Here's what I'm liking about Turgeon is doing recruiting wise right now... he's capitalizing on all the positive feelings around the program at the moment, he's casting a wide net... and he's not putting all of his eggs in one basket. If Player X isn't willing to commit, I'm moving on and pushing for Player Y. I think that's the right strategy. Hopefully between the visit to College Park, and Turgeon visiting him... MD's closed the distance and is able to get the verbal here. Having been in-town this past weekend, it's likely that had to have made a big impression.

Both top 100 recruits. Backcourt looking nice though Trimble's shoes will be hard to fill.

The bigger watch is that MD made the final 3 for Mario Kegler... Top 30.. decision coming today.... Mississippi St, Indiana, and MD.
