I would think a HS kid is definitely going to the GCL.
I'd agree with this. Marin is a pretty raw talent, so I would imagine they'd bring him along very slowly.

Depending on how they end the year, I could see Delmonico leaping Schoop.
Just to be clear, you are talking about Delmonico (the 20-yr old first baseman at Class A Delmarva) jumping Schoop (the 20-yr old middle-infielder at Double-A Bowie), right?

Yea...but understand that I am saying that there has to be continued improvement for Delmonico and Schoop continues to struggle or even gets worse.Depending on how they end the year, I could see Delmonico leaping Schoop.

I think its unlikely Nicky D leaps over Schoop but I wouldn't close the door on the idea either.
But I like the offensive stats I am seeing out of Nick D right now.

I guess, but again we're talking about Delmonico doing it two levels lower than Schoop while playing a defensive position to requires a lot more offensive production. I don't know. Do you think Delmonico would be putting up these numbers (which are solid, not spectacular) at Double-AA right now?

Probably not..but Schoop isn't either. So, it comes down to an upside thing. If Delmonico shows more power plus as good or better plate discipline as he is showing now, his prospect status elevates.

On top of that, if Schoop ends up with a sub 700 OPS, I think the argument can be made that Delmonico passed Schoop for this particular season. Schoop would likely be staying in AA and Nicky D would be in Frederick.
Age is extremely important, especially considering level of competition. But performance matters as well.

I don't see how, statistically, delmonico has been superior. Schoop put up better numbers (including bb/so) at Delmarva, and at a younger age.

Yeah they kick off on Monday, I'm looking forward to it. I'm interested in seeing what Vader, Esquivel, and Coffey do as well as the newly drafted guys. Will also be interesting to see if any Schoops or Linos pop up in the GCL this year. Hows Hector Veloz doing?
Veloz will be in the GCL at (I believe) age 18 this year after spending last summer in the DSL.
