What's the chance of this guy being an impact 1B if/when Davis leaves? What's his D like?

On my show last weekend, Jim Callis compared his upside to that of a RH Lyle Overbay.

Walker has now blown through 3 levels of ball in a year and a half and is at AAA in his 2nd full year at 23.
That's not to be overlooked. Maybe people are still underrating him.

If Pearce stays cold, is there a chance that Walker finds his bat on the Orioles bench once rosters expand? Is there a need?
We do seem overloaded with RH bats right now, but if Cruz/Young are both already in, will Walker find himself as a right handed option off the bench?
Is it worth putting him on the 40 to do so?

I find it doubtful the Os put him on the 40 man and call him up in Sept. That said, its possible and more importantly you cant help but be impressed with how he has performed this year.
Granted a SSS of around 100 ABs, but look at the difference between he and Alvarez numbers at Norfolk. Two guys with comparable numbers at AA. Christian's slugging has remained the same and his BB/K rate and OBP has actually improved. Alvarez's K rate, BB rate, slugging, etc have all had a noticeable drop in his first 100 ABs.
Now, I don't necessarily expect him to be better in AAA than AA over the long haul but just putting up comparable stats and peripheral numbers at the next level is very encouraging. The numbers say he is not being overwhelmed or even having much of an adjustment period as he moves up levels.

Crazy how Walker and Yaz seem to be growing while developing. I'm trying to remember a pair of O's prospects that did that in a while.

Walker is in a mini-slump, going 4 for 24 (.166 BA), with 2 walks and 8 strikeouts over his last 6 games. Are pitchers adjusting? Time will tell.

SC AD Ray Tanner has tweeted Christian Walker will be joining the Os. Buck said last night they were going to add a player from Sarasota
