Why not? They need some youth on that team.

Seriously, WHAT IN THE WORLD ARE THEY DOING UP THERE?????
The Red Sox clearly "won" the battle of the sellers today, but for the Phillies to do NOTHING is mind boggling.

It's hard to do things when the villagers have used their pitchforks to cut off the phone and internet, and are standing outside the front gate chanting.

The fans should be horrified at the lack of deals.
Their system has nothing as well..They could finish last for the next 7-8 years. Terrible.

The phillies beat writers have been saying for weeks that it was unlikely that they would make any moves at the deadline stating that off season trades are more likely. Basically anybody desirable is a 10/5, is owed too much money, doesn't want to leave Philly, or some combination of the 3. It sucks for sure.
What about the players other than Utley?

Cole Hamels is owed quite a bit and is a 10/5. Papelbon is owed a shit ton of money and is a head case. Jimmy Rollins said he would only consider leaving Philly if there was a fire sale. Byrd could have been traded but I guess nobody made a good enough offer for Amaro. Ryan Howard is owed a good amount and hasn't been very good since his Achilles injury and his numbers against lefties are an abomination. The phillies beat writers have been saying for weeks that it was unlikely that they would make any moves at the deadline stating that off season trades are more likely. Terrible.
Sure, you guys had a hell of a run, but it's been over for two years.
Not a bright future.

Sorry, I was joking that Utley was the only desirable guy on the team (especially since he fits everything you said)

Cliff Lee probably out for the year as well.
Bad times.

The Phillies achieved a rare but ignominious feat on Saturday
Only the second team (2008 Yankees) to have four players age-34-or-older reach 550 PAs.

West gets 1 day: http://espn.go.com/m...sey-altercation
That means mlb's current Douche Score is Papelbon 7, West 1.
