Great question, Buster Olney talked about that in his piece yesterday. I have to think they'll try to make things work this season. Can't imagine their fanbase with all the sellouts being too happy about "throwing away" this season. I could see ownership doing what Angelos did in 1996 and make a point of putting a respectable product on the field. However, if they did sell given the players they have they could really stock up their farm system. With Halladay out for an extended period, will the Phillies go into sell mode?

I wonder if Ryne gets consideration for the various managerial openings. He's certainly paid his dues. How many HOFers have spent this much time in the minors to try and get a managerial job?
Interesting notes in here, the Phillies fired Sam Perlozzo. Juan Samuel as a result of the Sandberg move, will be demoted if he wants to stay in the organization to the 1B coaching job.

That means he had already failed a test, as the penalty is different for steroids and amphetamines.

I might have to make a trip or two to Philly this season. They are going to be a terrible fielding team.
