Hearing from a source that it's a done deal.

Press conference later today.

Yep, breaking in multiple spots as official now. Reports of unanimous decision from the Board of Regents.

Unanimous....wow. Yesterday the indication was there was a lot of dissension. Guess the argument for doing this was overwhelming.

Yep...Looks that way.

I am sure it does make more money for MD and let's remember, this isn't a college...this is a business first and foremost.

However, the bottom line is that this is likely better, money wise. I mean, the football program could be worse off but maybe more money can come in and help improve their facilities, which would help with recruiting.

Selfishly, I care about basketball and think this sucks but I understand it.

I will say that I will "root" for the Terps more now than before though. Hope they are able to beat out some of those Big 10 teams.

It will be interesting to see how the MD fan changes their tune about Big10 bball and if they end up thinking its better than the ACC and things like that.

All talk is about the ACC on this board and other MD related sports boards...Now, it goes to the B10...what will the "turn" be like?

Yep... I didn't think that it wouldn't pass, but I'm surprised it was unanimous.

Either that or the dissenters were outnumbered and just wanted to put up a front that they were united. Either way, it's a good thing. Regardless of how anyone personally feels about the switch, if they had botched this due to internal squabbling and disagreement, it would have been yet another humiliating episode for UM.

SG - I've never been one to diss B10 Hoops, so it won't be a change of tune for me... although I don't, and probably wont't think it's better, unless it is in any particular year.

When will they join?

According to ACC bylaws, it would be for the 2014-15 seasons. But as we've seen, anything is negotiable.

I'll never enjoy the slow down, 50-point games, more than the faster pace of ACC play.

However, it seems like when there are good Big 10 teams that end up competing nationally, a lot of times those are higher scoring teams. Ohio St, Indiana, Michigan State, and others can all score when needed.

Maybe Maryland can continue to be an up-temp, enjoyable team to watch and still have success in the Big 10.

If Gary was still the coach, I'd have no doubt that the style and system would remain the same. Turgeon seems a bit more willing to adapt his style, he went slow-down with A&M for personnel reasons for a couple years, so maybe he'll evolve more into the traditional Big 10 slow style. I hope that he doesn't and keeps building the Terps as a team that wants to score in the mid to upper 70s.

I just want to contend for title's, I personally don't care much how we do it. I mean, obviously I'd prefer a more higher tempo, but I'm not someone who doesn't also enjoy a defensive slow, paced gridlock game either. Those can be just as intense.

Twitter is saying that it wasn't a unanimous vote by the regents. Tom McMillen, for one, appears to have voted against it.

I think it could've been unanimous for unity purposes moreso than how regents actually felt. They knew it was going to be pass, might as well be a consensus.

I'll be out at 3. If someone can pick up any relevant information and post it here, that would be appreciated.

I didn't know that and that is certainly a very bright side of the move.

How about they have their own network? With real studio shows pregame and postgame. Our games are on the WB and when they are over Martin comes on.
