Betemit 2013

125 innings at 1st: UZR/150 5.7
608.2 innings at 3rd: UZR/150 -11.8
47 innings at LF: UZR/150 39.1
(I think we can agree that he is brutal at 3rd, serviceable at 1st, and pretty horrible in LF. Clearly there was not enough of a sample size for the metrics to agree about left.)
86 ab vs. LHP: .405 OPS
255 ab vs. RHP: .859 OPS

Here's my 2013 projection for Betemit, who I believe will be the lefty side of a platoon at DH for the O's.

My eyes hurt from the LHP chart. Holy crap, I need a beer after looking at that.
I'm fine with the projections. Nothing seems eye-raising to me.

If he almost never faces lefties, which is how it should be, I think that's actually pessimistic.
If he gets a decent amount of plate appearances vs lefties, then it's likely optimistic.

I kind of split the difference. I think that Betemit can put up something like a .300 average against RHP again, but I also think he's going to have to play full-time at some point this season and his inevitable .150 average will pull that down.

There's no good reason to ever have him consistently play against lefties.

Injured infielders Brian Roberts and Wilson Betemit are each hitting off a tee and throwing as they continue their respective rehabs in Sarasota. http://wnst.net/balt...iple-a-norfolk/

I would imagine Wilson needs at least 2 weeks and about 50 AB's. He might wind up being a Sept 1 activation.

If he can make it back before September I'll be happy. I was worried he wouldn't play at all this year.

Betemit went 2 for 3 today for GCL with a double, RBI, and a walk according to MASN.

@EddieInTheYard: Wilson Betemit will report to Frederick Monday to continue minor league rehab. #orioles
Not a huge Betemit fan, but he'll be a huge upgrade over Urrutia.

It'd be great if he could be up by the time we need a DH again on Friday.
