Two huge FA acquisitions going head-to-head!
Interesting that they were taken with 10 picks of each other in the 1st round in 2008. Lyles went #38 and Cole #28. Cole didn't sign. 3 years later, within the same week, Lyles made his MLB debut and Cole was the #1 overall pick.

Interesting seeing Adley DH again. Phelan speculated that they would want to get his bat in the lineup more and DH him and maybe play him at 1b in the future. Maybe this is a sign of the future or maybe they are just protecting his arm a bit after the injury.

Surprised Adley is DHing, but they are working a plan.

I have an idea of how much I want him to be able to catch next year and in the future, but for whatever reason it really doesn't matter to me how much he catches this season unless its something ridiculous like less than half the remaining games.

Nah, he's a lifetime jackass. He's totally stretched out to do that every night.

For me it really does depend on how good his offense is in regards to how much he catches. He has the arm and he is supposedly a good-great framer. I value great defensive C a good bit and likely will prefer him catching 110+ games a year in his prime.

Elias talks all the time, in regards to pitchers about using their "bullets" wisely in regards to starts, innings, pitches.
I would be that Adley has a number of games behind the plate. I think he will catch 4 to 5 games a week.

Keep in mind that the Orioles will play 8 games this week, so I am sure Adley and Chirinos will split them up.
