They need to be in full on tank mode for next year.
I really don't disagree, but they are clearly not doing that.
They are changing the team, but are bringing in guys to help them stay a 30-35 win team.

Yep..they could still get lucky and get a top 3 pick but they should be obtaining as many long term assets as possible.
Look at OKC.

Yep, I really like Bradley Beal, but if it were me, I would have dealt him.
Maybe still could, but the window to get a lot has probably passed.
Leonsis, still thinks with Wall and Beal they are a deep play off team.
He refuses to see reality.

Wall was seemingly fat and disinterested before he got hurt last year. If he comes back motivated from his injury, and still has high level play in him.... him and Beal could be 'good'....
But like you said, reality is that Wall was fat and disinterested... and now hurt.... and Beal is getting 1 year closer to FA. Get the assets back while you can.

Even if Wall is good, what are you? A 45-50 win team that is going out in R1 or 2?

If he's good, you'd hope you could be Portland East.

Which we saw their "peak" with those guys a few years ago and they weren't that.

Wall and Beal never really had their peak together....
Who knows if Wall can get back to what he was at this point, but peak Wall & Beal isn't much different than Lillard and McCollum at-least talent wise.
Wall turns 29 in Sept.
Beal just turned 26.
Lillard just turned 28.
McCollum turns 28 in Sept.
Maybe Wall and Beal just can't mesh, but lots of talk about the Portland guys not loving playing with each other either, but they make it work.
Either way, ultimately I agree... Wizards need to get assets for Beal while they can.

I agree they should have traded Beal, but they are not going to do it.
JMO, not sure Beal has peaked yet.

He seemed more comfortable last year once Wall was out.

Yep and he really played well, on both sides of the ball.

Just read in the Athletic that the Wizards and or NBSSports Washington let Steve Buckhantz go. I thought he did a pretty good job announcing what at times was an awful product.
They did it, in a classless way too.

Yeah it's been dragging on for like a month. After the backlash from letting Chenier go, it's been brutal. Leonsis should sell them off to someone who either knows what they are doing or cares.

I was not a big fan of Buckhantz. but thought he was pretty good, clearly loved the team and did the games for 22 years. He is a professional. NBC Washington and Teddy, were not.
Interesting, listened to an interview he did. He thanked a lot of people but not Ted.

Looks like the Wizards are keeping Tommy Sheppard as GM:
Yep, not much of a surprise, hopefully he is different then his mentor.

And they are going to max extend Beal. SMH

There was never a doubt in my mind.
Ted likes his guys, as long as their names are not Chenier and Buckhantz
