I still can't believe how shitty the David Price trade was for TB.
That was my opinion... but a number of people have come out afterwards and said the trade was better than the general perception of the public.
Interested to see Smyly tonight. Showalter's comment the other day about being curious to see who was better the next 5 years - Smyly or Price - was likely not just a throw away comment. (Of course even if Smyly is better over the next 5 years, that does not mean the Rays necessarily maximized the trade value of Price.)

Zobrist with a 1 out double off the wall in right.

Didn't like that decision to come home.... 1-0 Rays, still 1 out.

Gausman ahead of Loney 1-2... 1 out, 2 on...
Loney with a foul tapper... Gausman up to 22 pitches already.

Loney singles into right... bases should have been loaded... but Longoria tagged out at 3rd, with 3rd already occupied...

He just doesn't make it play up as a two pitch pitcher.

To add to this, I just think the more often he's seen by opponents and the more a book gets out on him the easier he will be to be successful against.I have the least trust in Gaus of our current starting 5 despite knowing he has the best stuff.

Essentially, you'll sit on one of two pitches and plan to attack early in counts.

Let's face it though...come playoffs, assuming we're in the playoffs, he'll be in the pen at best. Tillman, Chen, & Norris will be our 3 for playoffs with Gaus in for an "as needed" long man I'd think/hope. Not hard to get a book on a guy with 2 effective pitches. He really really needs to develop that 3rd and/0r even 4th pitch or he's going to be another failed Orioles "calvary" member.

Agreed. He looks like shit.

If you're a two-pitch pitcher and you can't really control your fastball, it's hard to be successful.
