The O's definitely want Oswalt and are going after him.

Doubtful he would pick Baltimore over Texas but it won't be from a lack of trying from the O's.

I endorse getting Oswalt simply because all he costs is money. If it doesn't work out at least you're not holding your breath hoping the prospects you dealt don't turn into studs.

That said, I can't imagine him taking our offer if it's similar to any number of other teams.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

"Now OPS sucks.  Got it."

"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."

"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

I agree with this logic. Especially now that there are domestic and international spending caps in place, so the "I'd rather spend the money on the draft or international prospects" argument doesn't really apply.

Just in acompletely theoretical sense -- not in a practical sense as in "THE ORIOLES SHOULD DO THIS TOMORROW!!!" -- Roy Oswalt is the kind of addition that would make sense for this team. All they would be giving up is money. They're a bit thin on the prospect side, and I don't know if it makes sense to give up what little depth they have -- Schoop, Bridwell, Delmonico, Rodriguez, Wright, to name a few -- for a rental SP. Again, in purely a theoretical sense, if they were to compete, they'd probably need two new starters...Britton and Oswalt could be those guys.

Now, if you don't think Oswalt wouldn't have much left to offer to a team...probably best to stay away.

What would be your limit $$$ wise?

He will be signing with Texas any day now.

We have a winner. He signed with Texas according to various reports. I saw it with IBN on twitter.
