I think fans will be nicely surprised by the new look USWNT. Not that the older well known stars can't cut it anymore but I think at times that their play and effort left a bit to be desired. To me they looked like they felt like they would win every time out on the field not because they worked harder than anybody else (which was what made them so great) but that "hey we are 4 time WC champs and we will win just because"  While the overall competitiveness of the mens international game is still light years ahead of the womens game there are now more than just a couple of 3 top flight women's program. Overall this will be great for the women's program.  They will get pushed to be better now.

 

PS - They win their group.....easily.

Rapinoe needs to pay attention. Maybe it was adrenaline but no reason for her to jump the gun and get offside. Cost us a goal but didn't matter.

 

Haiti hitting the post on their PK was huge. Had they cut the lead to 2-1 who knows how it plays out.

 

Now as to Morgan. She scored twice but her best shot was that insane header that she had to lean backwards to get to and still managed to get pace on the ball but alas it went off the crossbar. Had that gone in it would have been ESPN top play of the day. Extremely difficult to get a head on that ball but she did so and hit it hard on frame. Wow did she look terrific last night.

I didn't see the header, but I thought the deflection goal that Morgan had was excellent.  Looked like something you would see in a hockey game.

When the NFL puts the Super Bowl in the Middle East and makes slaves build them a one time use facility for $5B, and says no booze or gays and keep the cheerleaders at home, then we can talk.
