Corrupt, maybe. But not even close. Not even in the ballpark.

When the NFL puts the Super Bowl in the Middle East and makes slaves build them a one time use facility for $5B, and says no booze or gays and keep the cheerleaders at home, then we can talk.

The funny thing is you say that like it's not just a few years off. LIV and the NFL have a massive overlap of target audience. Without the massive TV deal they get, they'd be schilling to the middle east in a second.

I'd bet that's what the hangup is getting Bezos to bid on the Commanders, conflict of interest with the Amazon streaming deal.

Not to be outdone by their decision to use Visit Saudi as a sponsor for the Womens World Cup, FIFA has appointed a former Victoria's Secret Model to be their Global Fan Ambassador.

Is FIFA so obtuse that they would bring on the official tourism program of Saudi Arabia "Visit Saudi " as a sponsor for the upcoming Womens World Cup?

Surprisingly FIFA has reversed course and won't be bringing on Visit Saudi for the Womens World Cup

Yeah I watched that match. Really sad as she has been our best striker of late scoring goals almost at will. Sucks she'll miss the WC.

To be fair to the ladies side the U20 CONCACAF Championship is ongoing and we are kicking everyones buts thus far. 20 minutes in against the Canadians and already up 2-0. I don't follow the women's youth program at all but I suspect they will waltz to the trophy in this one.

USWNT has hired Emma Hayes of Chelsea to be the next HC.   Hayes is set to become the highest payed womens HC in the world.  Her credentials look good and it sounds like the USA is serious about wanting the best, hopefully this move pays off.

Hayes is a terrific signing for the USWNT. From a technical standpoint I don't think there is a better coach out there. But what this team needs is to get back to focusing on soccer. Their social activism did not come without costs on the field and in the locker room. Hopefully she can help them find the right balance.

The players seemed to have figured out that they can no longer just go out and get the W because, well they are the USWNT and the best in the world. Still have to play the game and the younger players are showing their stuff.

Most disappointing match last night losing to Mexico 2-0.

1. Only the second time in history they have lost to Mexico (overall record 40W - !D - 2 L

2. First regulation time loss in their last 22 matches.

3. First loss in the state of CA......ever.

So they finish 2nd in the group and will play their knockout match on either Saturday or Sunday depending on the way Groups  B and C end up.

US gets Columbia on Sunday. Clearly they will be the favorites. US is still ranked #1 and Columbia is #24. The US is at home and they should be pissed off.

US wins 2-0.

Well done by the ladies last night. They showed intensity, effort, and cohesion. Columbia was no match for them. 3-0 and on to the semis against Canada.

The young guns are really stepping up and showing off. Looks like they need more of that transition and not less. Sometimes I feel like they can't really get anything going cause they have TOO many stars and are trying to get people time. You finally start getting some pressure and then swap out Trin, or Sophia, or someone else hot, and next thing you know you're playing tennis at midfield.

The teenagers looked good. Nighswonger has been a menace. Trin and Sophia are two of the best in the business. They are doing well transitioning to the new generation, BUT still haven't been able to get with the new coach yet, and don't know what that's going to look like.

The ladies beat Canada last night on penalties. Game was 2-2 after extra time but they prevailed in PKs 3-1. US keeper had some stops in PKs AND scored her PK.

Hats off to Alyssa Naeher!! On to the final Sunday against Brazil.

I watched the highlights. Thoughts on those field conditions Steve? I've seen a wet ground before but that was a little ridiculous.
