Sherman Reporrt: Phelps’ contract not renewed by ESPN; Is network looking to get younger?
It likely wasn’t his choice. According to sources, Phelps’ contract wasn’t renewed by ESPN.
Phelps, 72, tried to put a positive spin on the situation.
“I spent 20 years at Notre Dame as a coach and now 20 years here at ESPN doing a great job with all you people. And now it’s time for me to move forward, and this will be my last time on TV,” Phelps said.
Phelps added: “It’s been a great run. Twenty years is always my target for everything, and it’s time to move forward.”

I really don't watch much college hoops coverage anymore, but at 72 years old, maybe it's time to hang it up anyway, Digger.
Wish him the best.

I get it even if he's not slipping, the networks are looking to get younger. I thought he was fine, he's basically the Lee Corso of basketball but sharper. My guess is they'll promote Jay Williams to full-time on the GameDay set, maybe add Seth Greenberg as well. There could be some external candidate, but I can't think of who it would be. After all, Jalen misses a bunch of shows anyways due to his NBA commitments, I wouldn't be surprised if they removed him from cbb coverage altogether to let him solely focus on that. Personally, I'd like to see Miles Simon get a shot, but I don't think ESPN is going to do that.

Another coach or two who was fired will join the team as well..
Like I said, I really don't watch much coverage besides the actual games anymore, so I'm probably not the best guy to talk about this, but when I did watch, he seemed fine.

Yea, Wake Forest always had the home court advantage there...They played their home games in the Greensboro Coliseum for years. I'm assuming that's what you mean?
You guys are going to love the Big Ten Tourneys in Indianapolis and Chicago!!

There's only two Big Ten teams in each of those (very large) states. And they are also separate states, as opposed to the ACC occasionally moving their tournament all the way to the hinterlands of Charlotte

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

True, true, but not exactly around the corner from College Park.
Maryland fans ALWAYS represented well at the ACC tourney, regardless of location.
