In their better years, a prospect, even one as good as he is, would be batting 7th or 8th. I'm just not impressed with them as a whole this year.

Pedroia hits a grounder to Reynolds. Reynolds comes up with it cleanly. Throw off the bag.... 100% mental issue from Reynolds there. 2 on, 2 out...
Sounds like we're really screwing the pooch this inning.
Defense is my only concern right now. If you would have told me our defense would be this poor, and we'd have this record, I would have been shocked.

No disrespect to Middlebrooks, who I think is a very legit prospect, but he's a perfect example of how the Sox are down this year.

Good points here. I know Buchholz is struggling, but I believe in their top 3. Dice-K getting closer to returning as well...but there are issues with that back of the rotation. Mixed results with Bard... bullpen is kind of ugly.
Crawford out another couple of months. Ellsbury will be back... who knows what he provides exactly. Youkilis will be back soon... but I think showing signs of age. Gonzalez will be better, Ortiz will be worse. They are not world-beaters.

Gotta appreciate Chen's composure on the mound. Doesn't seem to let anything rattle him, even during a 5 out inning.
Yep, I agree. Good job just retaining his focus and getting Ortiz.

Exactly. Could they be good? Absolutely. But they're a lot more vulnerable than in prior years. I feel the same way about the Yankees. Not saying the Orioles win the division or anything, but I think this year is a little bit more fair game than a lot of people thought.

Yanks losing Rivera and Pineda is pretty tough.
O's should win this series in Boston, and that says something.
