@Ken_Rosenthal Sources: Penalties under discussion in new drug agreement are 80-game ban for first offense, 162 games for second, lifetime for third.

Better than 100, which I saw rumored.

It also sounds like if you can show your use was truly inadvertent, you can get a shorter suspension.

New rules are official, and in force immediately.

- 80-game suspension for first offense, 162-games for second, and permanent ban for third.

- Any player that tests positive and is suspended at any point during a season will be ineligible for that postseason.

- Major increases in urine and blood testing, including an entirely new test on at least one sample from each player.

- Players testing positive will be subject to additional urine and blood tests for the remainder of their careers.

I hate the playoff rule. If your suspension ends before the playoffs, it ends. You shouldn't receive an additional suspension based on the fact that your team is better, or have your team's chances affected because a player made a poor decision early.

Otherwise, this is what the players wanted, so good for them for deciding to fight for a stronger program.

In other news, the average NFL player currently weighs 437 lbs. and runs a 3.7 40.

The continued blind eye to the NFL is an absolute joke. They always were, and still are way more dirty than MLB ever was.
