I know one Red Sox fan. He didn't even make a Facebook status about Opening Day until Sizemore hit his home run. I'm probably gonna go give him a bunch of crap now.

The pitching outside of Britton and Matusz for his batter was pretty suspect.

I know why they do it, but I hate the off day after OD.

The BP will need some rest. I like it.

Chris "he hasn't thrown a curve for a strike" Tillman threw 9 for strikes today, according to BB. 9/15.

Yeah. I'm okay with it since we won but still used a bunch of P.

Wedge, Sutcliffe, and O'Brien can't be bothered with pesky facts like that when they're already giving the Comeback Player of the Year award to Sizemore and talking about how Ratface is the bee's-knees because he hung in there turning 2.

Anyone do a SOSH GH?

Such an awesome day!!!!  Spent much of the morning/afternoon at Pratt St. Ale House prior to the game, then pre-game festivities were nice, followed by a great game!  Fantastic day up in 338.

I had to leave early today for class, and I chose to go right at the end of the sixth. By the time I was leaving the gate, the top of the seventh was complete* and Wagner was announcing Nelson Cruz. I had the thought: "You know, he's probably going to homer here. I'll know because I'll hear the crowd noise when he hits it, then explode when it goes out, then the siren and the fireworks and the whole nine yards."

I was passing the Memorial Stadium memorial when I hear the crowd start.

Then explode.

Siren.

Fireworks.

Whole nine yards.

Still excited :P

*At least I was walking when "God Bless America" played, so I didn't have to pretend to care about it at all.

I forget, what's your beef with God Bless America? The God part?

The fact that it's treated as a second National Anthem when

1) that takes away part of the reason to play the actual National Anthem.

2) the reverence shown--asking the fans to stand, not just assuming they will for the stretch--creates an implied public endorsement of a particular view on religion. Not even a Christian view, just the idea that religion is necessary at a sporting event.

3) out of all of the options available, it is possibly the worst song. Seriously, if they had people stand up to "America, the Beautiful" I wouldn't like it, but I would have far less of an issue.

There's no need to turn the seventh-inning stretch into that kind of moment. You already have one right before every single game. Even though the Orioles have at least returned to playing both "Take Me Out To The Ballgame" and "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" after "God Bless America" over the past few years (they used to only play one or the other), the stretch is a moment of relaxation in the middle of a game. "God Bless America" hurts that, and it affects my enjoyment of the game.

And don't even get me started on The Wave :P

While we're at it, and I might get lit up for this, I HATE that Lee Greenwood, Proud to be an American song that they play at every Ravens game. I find it to be very contrived.
