MLB.com: Mets, Blue Jays to play exhibition series in Montreal

http://mlb.mlb.com/n...ws_mlb&c_id=mlb

I think this is just the Blue Jays building their base. Could they eventually get a team, sure. But I don't see that coming anytime soon and certainly not with a new stadium.

ESPN: Jim Thome wants to manage

http://espn.go.com/c...manager-one-day

"This is the thing in this job I'm in now -- I want to look at what the next phase is for me getting back on the field, competing at a high level," Thome told the newspaper. "There is a side to me that wants to manage someday and prepare myself for it if that opportunity came calling. I'd want to be ready."

Jim's a solid leader and a great all around guy...not sure if he has the chops to manage.

That said, he can be my hitting/bench coach any day.

http://deadspin.com/...test-1533322041

Despite the outcome, this was a huge win for supporters of Eric Sogard and supporters of anarchy. The entire contest was hijacked by bespectacled nihilism. Much of baseball turned against Jose Bautista and against David Wright, and rooted for a dumb promotion to suffer the absurdist payoff it deserved. It didn't quite happen, but now there's almost no chance MLB runs this contest again next year. And that is a triumph for democracy.

If this brings MLB Network notoriety, I'm all for it. It's honestly the only channel i watch 75% of the time.

If by "notoriety" you mean "give me another reason not to watch," then they're doing it right.

I can't imagine they get enough ratings doing what they do when those things discourage a portion of the public who might actually care to watch from doing so.

Yeah this is great.

Right now defensive metrics are limited by the collection methods, not by the analysis of the data that does exist, IMO.  But if all the data can be gathered accurately, I think defensive metrics could get to a point where they are just as reliable as offensive metrics, which would go a very long ways towards gaining widespread use and acceptance.
