This is the best season of TD. Amazing lead performances with lots of heart. I love Dorf, always have since Blade. I wish I had waited to binge when the show was over but I’m loving it.
I never had friends later on like the ones I had when I was twelve. Jesus, does anyone?

Hadn't seen any of the new season but have caught up this weekend. Great stuff.

I like that this season, much like the first, always let's the viewer figure out the next twist half a scene before the characters. It's a mystery to us up until that point, so they still get our reaction, but then we get to see the characters find out the same info. Dramatic irony, I think, but good stuff.

Also, when the hell did Stephen Dorff get good? He's been great. I expected amazing stuff from Ali and he's delivering big time. But I was not expecting Dorff to impress.

Not surprised to see a connection between the first season and this one.

The dolls reminded me of the stuff we saw in S1. I wonder if they interview either of the guys from S1 in this and ask their opinions on the case in next weeks episode?

This, in my opinion, has been the best season by a landslide!  Ali is brilliant, Dorff decided to become a very good actor, or he's just basically playing "himself".  He actually has emphasema (spelling) and is in his 40s...years and years of being a chain smoker I believe, but if you never saw The Gate (his first big gig), you're missing out!  I'm sure it's aged terribly...howver, back to the show, they could BOTH win leading and supporting acting nods in next year's Emmy's.  The twists and turns, and the empathy I've felt for Scott McNairy's character, Tom Purcell (he is amazing) has made me want to re-watch this show after the final episode of the season.  Also, the tie-in to season 1 was pretty cool in this last episode, and I want to now go back and re-watch it.  Great season..I just hope we get a great payoff in the end!

Re-watching S1 while waiting for the next episode for S3 each week.

It's close, man. Both seasons have been really, really good.

I think the story for S3 is more streamlined and easier to follow...S1 goes off on some strange tangents.

I'm just glad we're at the point where True Detective is must-see TV again.

How good of an actor is Ali?

He has to be one of the best in Hollywood today. He’s really great.

Bounced around as a supporting actor, saw him in a few things, but he jumped off the screen in Moonlight.

He's been amazing in this role. Give him all the awards for it.

He’s damn good. Makes Dorff’s solid performance seem lackluster in comparison.

I wonder why he bounced around in lesser roles for a while?

I mean, you see that a lot with actors. Just get type casted into certain roles I guess. Needs that one director to give him a bigger role and watch him excel.

Just takes one performance to stand out and catch fire I guess before the best material gets sent your way. There are probably a lot of actors that could be just as good but just haven’t had the opportunity.

I really loved the ending - although I kind of wish there was more around the cult/religious aspect, but maybe I'm just a hater. But it was a great, happy ending. Ali just absolutely killed it. As did the writers and director. Phenomenal television.

Somewhat anti-climactic, but this season was always more about the people than the case itself.

A very good finale for an excellent season of television.

Yep.  That's how I felt.

Little twist in the end with her still being alive (although the little girl's name being Lucy was a giveaway) but I definitely felt there was going to be a "bigger ending" than that.

But agreed it was an excellent season.

He was the villain in the first Blade movie. This is easily his best work.

Oh man he's been around forever. You've probably seen him in a ton of stuff and just didn't know who he was.
