Actually, resigning from the Tigers, but at 68 years old, I'm guessing we never see him managing again.

He told the team in the locker room after they lost on Saturday night.

Great career if this is it.

Not exactly shocked given the fact he was managing year-to-year like LaRussa was. He's already had a WS with the Marlins, so I think that probably makes it a little easier for him. I'll miss him. Anyone want a cigarette now?

Light it up!

Hopefully he stays around the game, he's one of the greats.

He's on the Selig panel on improving the game (whatever it calls) like fellow members Torre and LaRussa, I'm sure Selig will offer him sort of position in the Commisioner's Office.

I'm sure Dombrowski(sp?) will try to keep him around, he's led the Tigers to a pretty good run compared to where they were. Besides, his short stint in Colorado, he's won everywhere he's been.

you and Lelyand both had stints in Colorado, nice!

He could go to MLB Network, I can see him and Millar having some epic conversations.

On ESPN on SC, Tim Kurkjian was basically saying that Leyland had been thinking about this decision for a while and win or lose this year in the playoffs he was most likely done managing.  According to Timmy it sounded like Leyland had made up his mind on this a while ago.

Simultaneously, on ESPN2, the two fantastic (insert rolly-eye emoticon here) talking heads both were taking the side of "Well he's getting ripped in the Detroit media and he's essentially doing this on a whim and telling the Tigers and their fans that 'if they think they can find someone better, do it.'"

I'll go ahead and believe the Kurkjian scenario just a bit more than I'll believe the Bayless/Smith argument.

I promise no smart ass comments about watching not only one but TWO ESPN entities at the same time!

I'm proud of you, brother!! :)

Seriously though, yea, Timmy K's scenario sounds much more legit!

I think Mark's head would explode with all three at the same time...

Nah, I had just poured my cup of morning coffee and was flipping through all the sports channels for my daily wake-up sports fix.  Flipped on SC 1st right as Timmy was talking about Leyland.  Once he was done and they moved on just went up a channel and caught the dynamic-duo going off with their harebrained scheme.

Luckily we've moved on from that nonsense and Fresh Prince is my breakfast show this 'morn.  :)
