There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note
"Now OPS sucks. Got it."
"Making his own olive brine is peak Mackus."
"I'm too hungover to watch a loss." - McNulty

And then in the summer a lot of players end up competing with their national teams in either tournaments or friendlies. Not much time off for a lot of them.

Holy moly there are a lot of European competitions lol
There are a lot of competitions on every continent like this. You just don't here near as much about them as you doing the ones in Europe.
But most every soccer federation has their leagues, Cups, and multi nation tournaments.
For example lets just look at the US.
MLS and two professional leagues below that level.
MLS vs Liga MX Leagues Cup
MLS vs Liga MX Campeones Cup
US Open Cup
Then for players on the USMNT:
Nations League
WC Qualifying
Gold Cup
Olympic Qualifying
Soccer is intensely grueling. No other sport has anything close to this

If Man U pulls off the upset, they’ll clinch a spot in next season’s Europa League, which….meh, if competing in UEFA’s version of the NIT is worth the squeeze, then ok. If they lose, they end up in Conference League, which is European soccer’s answer to the CBI. At that point, if I’m the players and especially ten Hag, I say no thanks, I’d rather have the rest and extra training opportunities, not to mention reducing injury risk, that might help us earn our way back into the UCL.
The team won't pass up the money those European games bring, even if it's the NIT.

Great stuff Steve. I'm ashamed to admit I had no idea the season was starting this weekend. Looking forward to another season!

Add in the all the activity with Copa/Euros and it doesn't really feel like there was an offseason.

Hoping United and all of their shiny pieces continue to struggle as an incohesive whole without a true plan!

Everton at home against Bournemouth.
Everton up 2-0 in the 88th minute.
Jordan Pickford made two fantastic saves for Everton in the last two minutes plus extra time.
Bournemouth won 3-2. Crazy as hell.

Jesus. Another dreadful year coming for the Toffees?
0-0-3 and allowed 10 goals already. Manager has to be in trouble.

They decided to squander today’s 2-0 lead a little earlier in the day. Everton are dreadful, have to think Dyche will be ousted before too long. At least they’ll have the best stadium in the Championship next season!Everton at home against Bournemouth.
