I believe Caleb will be great. Never know, always risk with QB’s. But he’s a stud. Great processor, scrambler, great downfield arm, USC’s roster was terrible this year.

Maye is far more risky. So is Daniels. I like Penix above those 2 personally - his deep ball is a thing of beauty, and with his age, he’s much more developed/mature. He should’ve won the Heisman this year IMO.

Nix always seems like a bit of a disappointment when I watch him (not results wise but just opportunities missed), plus has a funky arm a bit. Think both he and McCarthy have a chance to succeed too.

As for Fields improving - not in the processing department IMO. Hard pass there, agreed with 2035 on his limited upside. Serviceable starter who will flash, you’re not winning a championship with him, you have to try someone else with 1.01 IMHO.

The article linked, written by a Fields' skeptic, suggests there has been improvement.

This would be very tempting. Good call.

Its not a good call if you really think Williams has that much potential. You dont get cute with this decision if you think 1 of the QBs could be special. Of course in reality Penix could end up being an All Pro too but you have to make the decision in April, not 2030. If you believe in Williams that much its an easy decision.

Normally yes and if it were me I agree with you here. MHJ is that good though. He has such a high floor, it’s insane.

End of the day, hes just a WR. Lets remember Randy Moss in Oakland.

The Bears are reportedly retaining head coach Matt Eberflus, but have otherwise fired the entire offensive staff.

Brilliant. Assuming the Bears are retaining Eberflus without an extension, the 2024 season is obviously a hot-seat campaign for him. How is he going to convince the top candidates to join his staff when they could all be out of a job after just one season?

Multi-year contracts and pointing to Caleb Williams should do the trick.

That's assuming they use that pick on a quarterback. I think keeping Eberflus is a sign the Bears will stick with Fields because the coach has to win now and Fields provides the best opportunity to do so. Now you could also read it as the Bears saying they plan to take a quarterback with that pick. That could be a selling point for a top offensive coordinator candidate, but then they'd also have to throw Eberflus a bone and give him perhaps an extra year of job security. There has to be some indication of security.

This is the Bears, however, and they'll probably screw it up. There's a reason why, in their long and storied history, they've only had one Hall of Fame quarterback that entire time. (And by that I mean quarterbacks who played all or most of their careers for the Bears.)

Poor Fields, if so. That just isn’t at all what he needs right now. He’s got the running thing down. Needs help with the passing games and route trees. Chicago going to Chicago though.

I still think he gets traded, but what is his market (if there ever truly was one) now that many potential bidders for his services have now locked down either long-term or bridge solutions in free agency?

At 9th overall, the Bears take Rome Odunze.
