The Celtics announced Monday that Jaylen Brown has been diagnosed with a torn scapholunate ligament in his left wrist and will undergo surgery, ending a breakthrough campaign for the fifth-year wing and first-time All-Star.

Danny Ainge is expected to step down as President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics, sources tell ESPN. Brad Stevens is expected to assume a more prominent front office role with the team.

Stevens has been described as worn down with coaching since The Bubble, and welcomed the chance to make the transition to the front office, sources tell ESPN. Stevens will help lead the search for his successor as head coach.

The Boston Celtics are trading Kemba Walker, the No. 16 overall pick in the 2021 draft and a 2025 second-round draft pick to Oklahoma City for Al Horford, Moses Brown and a 2023 second-round pick, sources tell Adrian Wojnarowski.

I guess the key piece for the Celtics in this deal is Moses Brown.  Horford is probably a high priced veteran bench player, but Brown is a young big, who could starter at center for a number of years.

Here is my Kemba Walker story.  I went to the first/second round NCAA tournament games in DC when Walker was at U Conn.  His mother happened to be sitting near us, and she yelled DE-FENSE at the top of her lungs for the entire game.  It was annoying.

The key piece is money. Walker is owed about $20m more over the next two seasons than Horford.

Money is the key issue with 90% of NBA trades, but Brown is a nice piece in the deal for the Celtics.

And I know this is the Celtics thread, but they might as well just hold the next few drafts at OKC’s facility, because that’s where all the action will be.

Celtics are hiring Ime Udoka as their next head coach, who most recently was a Nets assistant. Solid choice, and someone I'm surprised/disappointed the Blazers showed no real interest in, especially given his Portland roots.

Teams must hate seeing their players play in off season tournaments.  The talk being supportive but behind closed doors they have to dread it.
