Why not re-name the team something like the Cleveland Steamers or something?!?!?  Something less offensive.

People wont be pleasantly surprised with McLouth too much longer.

This means he's going to get really hot!

Probably better in the trade target forum, BUT a name just popped into my head...

Erik Bedard?!?!?  What do you all think?  He's only given up more than 2 ER once in his past like 8 starts...just gets NO run support and had 1 bad outing in the past 9.

Yea because that awful stereotype of Indians smiling is perpetuated by Chief Wahoo.

I'll just stop, this can't go anywhere good. I'll just say that I occasionally wear a Notre Dame hat despite being Irish and never getting into any fights -- I'm also not a leprechaun.

They could keep the same team name and change their mascot to a cartoon version of this guy:

I personally tend to side with this mindset... but am sensitive to those offended. That's the bottom line to me, if it offends Indians or whatever, then I can certainly understand the fuss. But like you said, nothing good can really come of this dialogue, most people are pretty set in their ways about it.

Did Gary Thorne just call Drew Stubbs, "Franklin Stubbs"?

Who retired in 1992 I think.

I actually took a class in law school called "Native American Law" and, if you believe my professor (who was Native American) a lot of them could give two squirts of piss about sports' team names. They care more about like stuff like losing their land, gambling regulations, increased incidents of diseases like alcoholism, etc.

There is baseball, and occasionally there are other things of note

No, I'm pleasantly SATISFIED by his play...good defense (at least getting ot the ball), awesome speed, hits .270+....what's not to really like?  I don't know how much i love him not getting a hit w/ the bases loaded, but that's baseball.

Personally I can only be concerned with two to three issues about my race at any given time, tops.

I think MIMS was telling the ump that Kipnis was running inside the base line.

Kipnis would be a good name for a hobbit.   Bilbo Baggins and Kippy Kipnis.
