Grantland: What's wrong with the Heat?
http://grantland.com...-with-the-heat/

A very good article as usual from Lowe.

The injury situation with Wade, as well as the decline of some players, especially Allen, Battier, and Haslem, and the inconsistent motivation have all led to a somewhat disappointing season to date.

The Pacers have also gotten better and to me, they're the favorites right now.

Here's something interesting about LeBron from Lowe's All-star column:

He’s shooting 51 percent on post-up plays, per Synergy Sports, and among 79 players with at least 50 post-ups to their name, Afflalo ranks ninth in points per possession. He ranks even higher if you broaden the data search to include shots Orlando attempts after Afflalo kicks the ball out of the post, per Synergy. No. 1 on that list, by the way? LeBron James.

Yup. LeBron didn’t just remake himself into an effective post player; he might be the very best post player in the league. This is bananas.

Do you expect Miami to win it all?  Everything with them come down to Wade?

They certainly have a good chance. And yes, Wade and his health are key to their chances.

If Miami finishes with the best record they'll win the title. That looks likely right now.

Ha! I think Miami has a great chance to win again... hard to beat them in a 7 game series... but Wade will have to perform in both the ECF, and Finals for them.

He's had the opportunity to coast all year... and probably all the way to the ECF... so he should be as rested as possible.

Of course Bosh should also be mentioned here...

Some signs of life from Beasley as well... maybe he will give the Heat another scorer down the stretch.

Something that I don't think is getting much pub, but is important, is that Ray Allen is slipping, even with the 3's.

Heat up 14 over Indiana with under 2 minutes left. Took control of the game with a 16-0 run in the 3rd. No Wade tonight. Heat back into 1st place in the East.

Indiana dead in the water. Now 1.5 month Eastern Conference playoffs will be completely boring.

Probably. You cant ignore that the Nets won all 4 games against Miami. If they avoid the Nets you have to think they'll get there relatively easily.

i actually agree 100% with this.

Brooklyn might just be Miami's kryptonite. Should be fun.

I can't see Brooklyn winning more than two games vs. The Heat... Especially if Wade is healthy.

Wade hasn't been healthy since 2007...

They just match up really well with them. I won't pick them to beat Miami, but it could be a tough series.

I also think Indiana can ,and likely will, still push them should they meet. I just don't think Indiana can actually win the series.

I thought so a month ago, but they've just really struggled down the stretch. I actually think/hope the Chicago/Wiz winner might just give them fits.

For everyone who complains about the length of the baseball season, the NBA/NHL playoffs (moreso in the latter case) not only water down the regular season but take forever to do. Not that that's changing. I liked when the first round for the NBA was a best-of-5, but that was still really drawn out with them trying to stagger the matchups as much as possible.

I wouldn't say completely boring, but it would be a big surprise if the Heat don't come out of the East. Luckily the West should be great.
