Baltimore Sun: Melo Trimble commits

Combo guard who plays at O'Connell and for DC Assault. Don't know much about him, but Keith Cavanaugh on 105.7 this morning said he was top 50 nationally for 2014. Sounds like him and Peters will be the backcourt of the future in a few years.

I thought the same thing when I read this. Turgeon and his staff are tireless. The terps are going to be a basketball top 10 team again and soon.Consensus top 75 player. He and Phil booth are similarly ranked area guards who had the Terps high on their lists. I wonder if the Terps still persue Booth.

The Terps have had this weird habit in their history of having a good basketball coach followed by a bad one, followed by a good one, and then another bad one ... it looks like Turgeon is breaking that trend. I'm very optimistic for the Terps for the long term.I thought the same thing when I read this. Turgeon and his staff are tireless. The terps are going to be a basketball top 10 team again and soon.

I agree, Turgeon is different than Gary but both are good coaches. The Terps have had this weird habit in their history of having a good basketball coach followed by a bad one, followed by a good one, and then another bad one ... it looks like Turgeon is breaking that trend. I'm glad he's on the team and will presumably help fill the void left when Len leaves (which I'm assuming is after this year). I'm sure Turgeon will get another big guy soon enough too.
My only worry right now is how long Turgeon will be able to hang on to his assistants ... I'm a bit surprised Spinelli is still in College Park.

Who do you see as the priority get for MD in their 2014 Class?

Good work Chris.
Their top target is pretty clearly Wiley. Missing on him would be a blow. From what Ive tried to gather, it seems maybe Maryland and Booth have cooled on each other.

It does seem like that. I haven't given up on MD getting Wiley, but if you told me MD could have Booth today and lose any chance at Wiley - I'd take that deal.

Nice interview Chris. I think the interest in Booth cooled on both sides when Maryland landed Trimble and I am not sure why because as we learned this year, you can never have enough guards.
Barton while not a star would be a solid veteran that would help Peters adapt. The longer it goes without him committing the more skeptical I become. I would say that if Barton does not commit to the Terps by next week he will go elsewhere.

Summary, Pinson was expected to go to Indiana. Now Indiana may turn to Wiley.

Baltimore Sun: Wiley commits

Great get for Coach Turgeon and his staff...love the comments about how Turgeon was out there recruiting just as hard as his assistants!
36th rated player overall and 8th at his position.

Real Good News.
They will have Wiley, Trimble, Peters, and Allen as guards as they enter B10. Not bad.

ESPN: 5 stars, 22nd overall
247 Sports: 4 stars, 37th overall
Scout.com: 4 stars, 7th ranked SG
Rivals.com: 4 stars, 49th overall
Recently, BSL had spoken to Kellon Hassenstab from Hoopniks.com, who commented on Wiley saying, “For what it’s worth, Hoopniks.com is of the opinion that Wiley is a superior prospect and all-around player compared with Phil Booth. Wiley has a Big Ten ready frame, and a terrific all-around scoring game. Make no mistake, both are top 10 caliber shooting guards nationally, and would be a major score.”
With Wiley, currently the 2014-15 Terps look like*
Guards: Faust (Sr) Allen (Jr), Peters (Soph), Trimble (Freshman), Wiley (Freshman)
Wings: Wells (Sr), Layman (Jr)
Bigs: Smotrycz (Sr), Cleare (Jr), Mitchell (Jr), Dodd (Soph)
*With 2 remaining scholarships available.
