SA had to win one of these games in Miami to have any chance. So there you go.
That said, I feel like Miami just took their best punch. If SA plays like this all series they'll have a good chance to win but I dont think they'll keep up this pace.

And now, another few days off? Good god.
Just noticed that. Lame. There's also a 2-day break after game 4, BTW.

In 290 games since LeBron arrived, Heat had never forced fewer than 6 turnovers. Spurs had 4 tonight. #NBAFinals

Other than that turnover stat I just posted, this wasn't an abnormally good game from the Spurs. Pretty much what you'd expect from them. Actually, they shot worse than usual.

Great article by Lowe that explains a lot of the nuances of game 1 and what to look for going forward: http://www.grantland...mphed-in-game-1

Would be nice for some of you guys to admit you were wrong about this the entire time. As Weber said, lots of under-rating the Spurs, but also over-rating the Heat...
Clearly, the Spurs can win this series.

I think their valid point would be that Wade might not even be 70% of his full strength. My take is that even if Wade was 100%, I think SA would push the Heat. Had he looked full-strength, I would have picked the Heat... but still would have expected 6 or even 7 games.

Remember last year when the Thunder won Game 1 in Miami?
Oh, and go Danny Green!

And against the Bulls... I believe two other recent series Miami has also lost Game 1, and then won the next 4. Would be crazy to count out the Heat.
That said, I would be surprised if they won.

I'll still take the Heat, but in 6 instead of 5.

I think the bottom line is, and this is in all sports, when a team looks dominate, it's common for everyone to speak in what is really hyperbole. 'The Heat can't lose' was never correct. I mean, it was likely to be ultimately correct, and I'll admit, I fully expected and still expect them to win it all, but they never had anything locked up. This happens every season, in every sport. At some point before or during the playoffs, some team is anointed the no doubt winner and how often do they win? Probably a solid percentage, but not the 100% you'd think from the proclamations.
The Spurs are playing at a higher level than I think anyone could have anticipated. The Heat didn't play that bad in game 1. They were the better team for a lot of that game and lost. I think that would be what they should be concerned about. Typically if they're the best team for 35+ minutes, they win. I think they're in for a real battle.
I'll never bet against LBJ though. But he he's up against a team that has some of the best coaching, poise, talent, and experience in the league. That's tough. Fortunately for him, Miami has plenty of that too, but it will be tough. I think we're in store for a great series.

This is the third round in a row that Miami lost game 1 at home. I'm not going to crown the Spurs until they win their 4th game. Even if they are up 3-0 Miami still has a shot to win it.

It seems like Miami's focus will be on getting James going earlier tonight. Letting him score, try and get Spurs in foul trouble. Attempt as a team to improve the rebounding, and create additional turnovers.
What's the focus for San Antonio?
