I'd say this is our best matchup on paper. Be nice to take this one.

I'd probably go with the Sunday matchup against Porcello, but with Gausman going, who knows how that will turn out. We could have a pitcher's duel in this one. I think Scherzer is a little bit underrated. He's 7-0 with a 3.42 ERA, a whip under 1, and 81 k's in 61.3 innings. Has actually been better than Verlander so far this season. I think we'll have our hands full tonight.

I think what makes this our best matchup is that Gonzalez is on the mound and he looked very good his last two starts. Scherzer has been better than Verlander this season but I still would rather face him than Verlander. Sunday would be our best matchup if we had any other starter than Gausman going. I still can't believe that after the O's tied the game up on Tuesday he came out and walked the first batter .... that was so Arrietaish it still bothers me.

No strikes for MCab.

Jackson still on the DL? I thought he was supposed to be back by now.

May 28 Tigers manager Jim Leyland said Tuesday that he's hopeful Austin Jackson (hamstring) can begin a rehab assignment by the end of this weekend.

Advice: "I'm hoping, possibly, that sometime on this trip, he can go out and get some at-bats," Leyland said, "but I can't swear to that." Leyland is likely being overly optimistic, as Jackson has yet to be cleared to hit or pick up his running. It's more realistic that he might ramp up his activities this week before possibly starting a rehab assignment next week. "The last thing you want to do," Jackson said, "is, one day it feels really good and you get out there and try to push it and possibly re-injure it, and then we're back at step 1."

Bordick's right... that pitch was way up and in, and Cabrera still went out. Credit Cabrera there, and tip the cap.

It's the single in-front of Gonzalez which hurt.
