Ok but it was close enough. Close enough so that the Lakers should be able to make something happen.

It wasn't really that close though...they all gave up a lot of money...and Miami didn't have money into the role players like LA does.

I saw an article that they each gave up $15 million over the life of the deal (assuming they don't opt out) so that's $45 mill over, what 7 years? So a little less than $7 mill/year. That's not a lot.

Do agree about your role players point though. I hadn't considered that.

5 year deals for them...opt outs after 3.

Wrong. 7 year deals. Opt outs after 5.

Because the Lakers already have close to 50 million on the books before even considering Howard or Smith. The Heat had almost no one signed.

Very true about the role players, although Mike Miller signed for 5/25 that same offseason, which is a little more than what Blake is on the books at per year.

The Lakers can amnesty Metta, so he doesn't need to affect the books.

But then they can't amnesty Kobe.

Keep in mind that the player had to be signed to his contract prior to the new CBA for him to be amnestied.

I forgot about that part, otherwise it would be almost a no-brainer for the Lakers to amnesty Nash.
