This sounds crazy to me after what was seemingly a bad relationship between the 2 in Orlando.

I feel like I've heard numerous talking heads state in recent months that Dwight has little interest in going home to Atlanta, that he feels there would be too much pressure there.

 

Houston is the City I keep hearing if he doesn't remain with LA.

That doesn't create the cap space for CP3. They would have to deal Gasol and not take much salary back to be in the running for CP3.

Houston makes a lot of sense....no state taxes, so the contract difference isn't a big deal.

If Howard goes to Houston and gets close to his previous physical ability, and then they deal Asik for a good return, they can be dangerous.

But they are way over the cap now and would still be slightly over the cap or at least around it even if they dump Kobe. They can bring back Howard despite that, but they can't sign a player from outside to go over the cap other than the exceptions, which are for guys like Jamison and Meeks.

But right now, I'm blowing up the team if I were them, Amnesty Kobe, let Howard walk and try and deal Gasol and whatever other parts you can.

I'm not as up on the NBA so excuse my ignorance... when did the NBA get an amnesty clause? Or is it in Kobe's contract specifically? How does that work?

They've had it for a few years. You can cut a player and while you still have to pay him, he doesn't count against your cap. Each team has only been allowed one to use since it's inception.

I see, so it's an amnesty in the sense that it's not against the Cap, but the player loses nothing? So in the NHL, over the next 3-seasons, each team gets 1-amnesty they are aloud to use... it doesn't count against the cap, but the player only gets 2/3rds of the remaining deal, not the full amount.

 

Are you saying team's can use one per year, or they only get to use one ever?

Right now they get one ever. It came out of the new CBA a few years ago after the lockout. It was the teams' way of saying "yes we screwed up with some of these deals. Let us out."

Then how in the world were the Heat able to bring in both LeBron and Bosh to max deals despite having Wade already? I'm suggesting something similar to that.

None of those guys signed max deals...they took far less money to come together.
