Former Tampa Bay Bucs Cheerleader Sues Team For Wage Theft

Fifth team to see a cheerleader sue them.

She is claiming that, with all of the various unpaid activities she was required to participate in, she earned less than $2 an hour. Also, Florida law says she cannot waive her right to fair labor practices by willingly participating.

It will be interesting to see where all of these suits go. And it's always very interesting to see exactly the kinds of places major-league teams making millions of dollars a year decide to scrimp.

I really don't understand why teams don't pay these women.

Same reason they scrimp on minor-league amenities: they can, and public support is not likely to be behind those complaining.

"Oh boo-hoo, you get to get dolled up and run and jump around a football field every week and be on TV and get paid for it."

@NBCSports BREAKING: Malcolm Glazer, owner of both Manchester United and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, dies at 85, the Bucs announce.

Is this the record for NFL owner deaths in an offseason?

Doesn't it seem like the death of a man who not only is a championship-winning NFL owner but owns the biggest sports club in the entire world should get more play than it has?

Not when Johnny Manziel is doing anything.

Maybe across the pond, but they didn't like him there. He was a business-first owner, who didn't exactly immense himself in the teams. That's not a bad thing, the Bucs had much more success under his stewardship than previously. His sons basically ran the clubs, he was just financing it. The teams are staying in his family so that removes the whole, what will happen to them?

I think they could be a surprise team this year. I don't know if McCown will play as well as he did in Chicago but they do have some talent down there. Especially if healthy.

And Mike Glennon wouldn't be a bad trade target for the Ravens who do need a back-up.

Some early thoughts on the Ravens Week Six opponent: Tampa Bay

This isn't the same team that was throttled a few weeks ago on National TV.

A good friend of mine is a Bucs fan, so I watch a fair few Bucs games. I can't believe Glennon wasn't even given a chance to win the starters job in camp. He's so much better than what McCown offered them, and has managed to move around well in the pocket to buy extra time for routes to develop, despite the offensive line struggling. He's not afraid to stand in and take a big hit to deliver a pass. He and Vincent Jackson a big threats for the Ravens. They already run the back-shoulder throws and the goal-line fades well. When they click, they are very hard to defend. Getting to Glennon will be essential.

Defensively, it's a Tampa 2 system for the most part. Their rush has been ineffective save for Gerald McCoy. McCoy wins most one-on-one match ups he's allowed, so I'd be sliding my protection to him all game. If you can effectively block McCoy, then you should be able to run your Cover 2/Tampa2 beaters and have time to pick apart the holes in the zone coverage.

Osemele hasn't practiced all week. Still could play though. If not, we won't have the starting left side of our line.

If he doesn't play, it's going to be more like last week.  The offense can't function without protection.
