I really thought he would come back for one more season.  But maybe there's just too much turnover about to happen in Tampa to make it worthwhile.

I wonder if this affects Rogers thinking in any way?  Why would he want to leave GB now?  Without Brady in Tampa that takes out one of the few actual contenders in the NFC.  And if Rogers left the Packers and the NFC, where would that leave the conference?  SF likely going with Trey Lance, not sure about the Rams cap situation but they are built to win now, and Green Bay without Rogers.  Yeessshhh.  That might leave the Cowboys as the favorite.

The salary cap pigeons are coming home to roost in Green Bay for 2022. They currently project to be some $60 million over the cap next year if draft choices, practice squad players and free agents are factored into the equation.

The Packers went all in for 2021 and now they have some serious personnel decisions to make, none of which include bringing back Davante Adams. Even if the NFC projects to be less imposing next season, well, so do the Packers. Is Rodgers going to want to return to a team that may be clipping coupons in 2022?

Ali Marpet, retires at 28 after a seven season career. He leaves the game as a top 10 (probably top 5) G in the NFL.

Well, that lasted long.  I said all along I didn't believe he was retiring.  I thought as long as he is still playing at a high level why not continue?  And as I pointed out, there are really only a couple of teams that are legitimate SB contenders in the NFC.  At his age, walk away for a year and you probably aren't coming back.  I felt like his decision was rushed and really wasn't in his heart.  I'm glad he's reconsidered.

Ravens schedule had a Den and TB team on a week ago that look like relatively easy games.

Yeah, the timing was a little on the "drama queen" side coming right in the heart of March Madness selections.  I think the big reason was he really was never comfortable with the decision and wanted to wait until the last possible moment to change his mind.  That was today because he didn't want all of Tampa's free agents to walk because the team was going to suck without a QB next year.

This was pretty predictable. I thought he made the initial decision way too quickly. Seemed overly emotional.

I just feel bad for everyone who was thinking of betting the Bucs on a cheap futures wager thinking this MIGHT happen and hadn't yet. The easy money/hedge is gone ...

Didn't somebody just drop a half a million dollars on the ball from his last TD pass?

Ouch.

Yeah that really changed the look of the schedule.

Den especially. Thats the 4th place schedule game. Though the AFC West is quite solid up and down. Raiders certainly seem like the weakest now but who knows.

Maybe it was Belichick, and that's why Brady's coming back.

Agreed.  The AFC west looks like the best overall division from top to bottom.  Denver was probably as good as LV and LA last year with the exception of their QB.  Now they have that QB and probably should be in the mix of a very competitive division.  There's just really a lot of good teams in the AFC compared to the NFC.  Even with the expanded wild cards it's going to be tough making the playoffs in the AFC.  I think it takes at minimum 10 wins, maybe even 11 to get there next year.

I doubt that Brady officially retired.

He has been on Tampa's roster the whole time and the paperwork was never filed.

I guess he saw Tampa moving on and he got the urge to finish his contract.

You would think him or Bowles.

Per Peter King it'll be Bowles. And Arians will be taking a front office role.
