Sounds like the Pete Carroll era is over. Didn’t see that one coming.

Sounds like more of a mutual decision. Pete Carroll is in his 70s and easing him into an advisory role would keep him with the team but relieve him of the massive commitment in time that is required of an NFL head coach.

Just reading between the lines, it sounds a lot more like he was nudged out. He said both before and after their final game he had every intention of returning next season. He’s certainly got the right to change his mind on that, but I’m not sure that’s what happened.
Would be quite the troll job if they replace him with Harbaugh.

Carroll can coach. Maybe he has decided to tap out, but I kind of doubt it.

Carroll is a great HC, if he wants to continue on as a HC, sign me up, he hasn't shown any signs of slowing down.

That's pretty good value for Washington, IMO. About the same as a comp-3 by the chart.

Seahawks made a big trade....and it wasn't DK.
Geno Smith to the Raiders for a 3rd Rd pick. Can't believe they think they can win with Sam Howell. Must be entering the Arch Manning sweepstakes.

Sure take a 3rd for Geno. You arent winning anything with him either. Will be playing most of the year at 35 yrs old too

Geno isn't great, but he's decent enough. Better than he gets credit for I think, mostly because he played behind terrible OLs. And now they're gonna put Sam Howell behind that line....he of the 65 sacks taken in 2023 (5th most all time in a season). There's also a rumor they are targeting Darnold, another pressure-sensitive QB. Oof.
They really just need to lean into the tank, and replace Schneider, who clearly is nothing special and it appears was much more Carroll who built those SB teams the previous decade. Sucks that Macdonald had to walk into that mess for his first HC job....but I guess you can't say no to an offer for a job of which only 32 exist.

Speculation on PFT is that Darnold is their new target.

Hope they are taking MIN's coaching staff with them.
MIN gonna have a new QB next year and he will be in the running for Pro Bowl and people will STILL not see it.

Darnold’s season last year was fool’s gold. A team in Seattle’s situation (having to rebuild their entire offense) would be making an enormous mistake by giving him any real money.

And they did it, 3 years/$100.5M and $55M guaranteed. Epically stupid move for a team with a OL in bad need of rebuilding and a now-gutted WR corps to spend that kind of money on a QB. Gotta feel for Macdonald working under that front office.
