The deadline is coming in the next few weeks, so this thread can be place to discuss all trades and rumors.

Here is one...another potentially puzzling move by Toronto:

That's just moronic from a Toronto perspective. What are they going to do with Gay and Boozer taking up most of their cap space? Neither are max players or anywhere close to it imo.

Yep...and as I said last night, these guys aren't bringing other stars to Toronto and they aren't making them a contender.

They would have trouble affording other star with both of them, plus Canada's taxes causes a big issue with signing star players. Building within is/was the way to go for them.

What was the last smart move the Raptors made? Have the ever made one, going back to naming the team?

Drafting Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady were good moves. Trading them.....not so much.

What? Can you think of anything more synonymous with Toronto than their large populations of Raptors?

Gotta think Toronto is in trouble of losing their team in the upcoming years.

@Chris_Broussard: Source close to situation says "60 percent" chance ATL trades Josh Smith b4 deadline. Brooklyn one of several teams interested.

Should Lakers look to move Howard to Atlanta in a deal for smith?

Atl is one of the teams that want Howard.

The Lakers would need more than just Smith for Howard. Despite the down year, Howard is still a much more valuable commodity, the catch is any deal would need to be a sign and trade.

Nash, Bryant, Metta, Smith, Gasol is such a great starting lineup for the Lakers.

Howard is from Atlanta...maybe he would entertain signing a max deal and getting dealt to his hometown.

Howard and Smith are very close friends, which could be a reason why the Nets are trying to get Smith, hoping that will help lure Howard to NJ. it could also be why Brooklyn wants Morrow as well, since he could eventually be a piece to go to LA in a sign and trade, since Morrow can shoot and D'Antoni likes shooters.

I've never understood this. You're the Kings and you're rebuilding. You want YOUNG TALENT. So you trade young talent away. Makes no sense.

Stupid deal for the Kings. I'm not sure what they or the Raptors are thinking here.

In a way, I think the Wizards were guilty of similar poor thinking with their deal in the off-season for Okafor and Ariza as that accomplished little for the present while hurting the future imo.

The Morris twins are now teammates.

@Chris_Broussard: Suns just added Marcus Morris in trade, sources say. Details coming.

Suns gave up a second rounder.

If the Nets acquire Smith do they dramatically increase their chances of becoming a serious playoff contender as opposed to a team that will make the playoffs and get knocked off in the first or second round?

It depends what they have to give up to get him.

I think they would have to move something from their core to get him and if that's the case, it probably doesn't help them all that much.

But the East is relatively weak, so they can certainly make a run until they play the Heat.
