The Greinke ball has dropped

He is signing with the Dodgers. That's a surprise since it had been assumed for a few days he was going to the Rangers.
So now, I would expect Hamilton to go to the Rangers and Bourn to the Mariners.
Rangers probably don't push for Upton now although they could sign Bourne for CF and still go after Upton but not much indication of that.
So, with this signing, I expect to see a lot of activity happen....where does that leave the Os?

If I were the Os, I would go after Billingsley.
He is owed 26 million but he is still pretty young, keeps the ball down and gets grounded, gets ks and misses bats at an above league average rate.
Obviously, the Dodgers are built to win now so my guess is we would have to work out something where they get relief help and/or Hardy(not saying all of that for Billingsley).
So, is that something you would like too explore?

The Dodgers basically have to trade a starter now.

I would definitely look into Billingsley. I would have no issue giving up Hardy for him, but I doubt DD would do it.

Rangers still interested in Upton.
I don't think they get him AND Hamilton. I think they would sign Bourn for CF and perhaps sign Sanchez.

Hardy and BP help going to LA.
Sign Ryan Roberts for third....still trade for a first baseman or DH.
Getting Billingsley makes it easier to deal pitching.

Yes, Billingsley interests me, but I'm concerned about the elbow: http://articles.lati... ... s-20121030
Chad Billingsley pitched to hitters for two pain-free innings Monday, a sign that he may be able to avoid reconstructive elbow surgery this off-season.
"It looks like he's going to be ready for the 2013 season," said Dave Stewart, Billingsley's agent.
Billingsley sat out the final month of the season because of a partially torn ligament in his right elbow and faced the possibility of a ligament-replacement operation that would sideline him next season. If healthy, Billingsley figures to be the Dodgers' No. 2 starter behind Clayton Kershaw.

Agreed...this is partially why I would like to add a guy like Pederson. Between the injury risk and his contract, Billingsley's value has to be down.I can't believe that the rumors of what Greinke were going to get turned out to be a bit on the high side.

I think I try a Hardy/Patton for Billingsley/Pederson deal.
Like what I see out of Pederson, even in a hitters league.

Obviously need to have Billingsley's elbow really looked at though.

Nail was hit on the head right there. Getting someone like Billingsly would make it easier to deal pitching.Billingsley and Joc Pederson would be my targets.

Would rather deal for Upton and sign Sanchez. The Rangers are going to try to get a deal done with Hamilton now and also look into trading for James Shields - from what's being reported out here. They've been quietly in on Shields for a while now and since they've lost the Greinke derby the Rays are happier about it.
Go after Bourn and having him play in that spacious CF may be smarter than signing Hamilton..it will cost less too.

That's true but for some reason (which makes no sense to me) I haven't heard squat about the Rangers having an interest in Bourn. Maybe they are intentionally keeping it quiet so they don't have to compete with other teams, but his market has been shrinking so they probably don't have to worry about that.
I'd rather have Bourn to Hamilton anyway.
