Yeah, he's probably not ready just yet but his timetable should at least advance by half a season or so.

I've been saying he will be an option by mid-season. You think the timetable is now advanced before that?

In my mind, it completely depends on how he looks in spring training and how the trio of Casilla/Flaherty/Roberts performs. If one of the three or a collection of the three are performing really well then there's probably not much reason to bring Schoop up any earlier than September when rosters expand.

But if all three struggle and he's looking solid with the bat and decent enough with the glove then I could see him getting a chance earlier than that, yeah. A lot depends on things he can't control though.

Yeah, I just don't get the logic behind spending money and making that kind of commitment to a guy that is 32 years old and we're not really sure how his talent will translate to the bigs.

I'd rather take a flier on a few left over relievers on the market when the dust settles or bring Koji back.
