Don't love it, don't hate it. Definitely needed a reliable veteran in the WR room.

1 year, $6M. Pretty fair deal. Prefer Hopkins to someone like Agholor.

Waste of money and a roster space.

Has Lamar written all over it, and I don’t like that.

Would've preferred Cooper Kupp if they wanted a veteran WR, but probably wouldn't have fit the budget.

Hopkins isn't a #1 or #2 anymore, but don't see how he can't be usable with Flowers and Bateman.

Thats quite cheap. Only a year. This isnt OBJ all over again. Ideally he is a big bodied red zone threat. I think that was needed too.

I mean $6M isn’t nothing given the cap situation we’re in. Hopkins is below replacement level, 33 years old come training camp, and oft injured. It’s a bad decision. But not an egregious one. Just wish they’d stop wasting precious resources on has-been’s to keep Lamar happy (speculation).

I doubt this is a Lamar move in the way OBJ was a Lamar move. Did they check in with Lamar? Almost surely, but I think this was an EDC move. He is a red zone target. Could still see him catching 5+ TDs.

Hopkins has only missed 1 game the past 2 seasons and was very dependable before Arizona. I don't pay much attention to him, so maybe he's often hurt and plays through it?

Still, very wrong side of 30 and that's never good for a WR.

Hopkins is likely your 5th or 6th target behind Flowers, Bateman, Andrews, and Likely in an offense that will still predominantly run a ton with Henry, Hill, and hopefully a ready to go Mitchell.

I think Kupp is just as washed btw for whatever that is worth. And Kupp doesnt provide the same redzone target.

At 33, I dont think Hopkins is coming in here to demand the ball and be a diva. Think he wants to play for a contender. Yes, you keep expectations in check. He's nowhere near the player he was at his peak but he brings experience and an alpha attitude.

He had 56 catches for over 600 yards, doubt he reaches that here with so many threats but if he comes close then I’ll be happy.

He’s basically replacing Agholor, who gave us 14/231 for 3.75M. I’m fine paying another 1.25M for Hopkins, who’s probably washed but has a higher ceiling than that.

Get the same production with a 6th round pick and no cap hit. That’s what we’re talking about here IMO.

Not a huge deal, but it’s silly.

Ideally sure, but Tez had 3 targets and 1 catch. Proche had 1 catch as a rookie, Tylan Wallace 2, even Duvernay a 3rd just 20. This team doesn’t trust rookies.

I think this is the best way to look at this move. I dont want to be relying on draft picks or unestablished 2nd year guys as my 3rd WR. If Walker or a draft pick emerges as the season progresses that is awesome,  but its much harder to find a proven vet in August or Sept than it is in March.

I doubt DeCosta is letting Lamar make personnel decisions. As for the signing, meh. But It's only a year for $6M. If he gives you something, great. if he doesn't give you much, no biggie. With all the receivers and TEs we already have seems like an unnecessary move.
