After a disappointing overtime loss to Northwestern, Maryland returns home to face off against Nebraska on Sunday afternoon. The Cornhuskers currently hold a record of 12-5 (2-4), and are in the midst of a three-game losing streak. Their conference wins have come against Indiana and UCLA, with losses to Iowa, Michigan State, Purdue, and Rutgers. Fred Hoiberg is in his sixth season as their head coach, and led them to their first NCAA Tournament berth during his tenure last year.

Nebraska is led by senior wing Brice Williams, who transferred in from Charlotte last season. He averages 19 points per game, and is an efficient three-level scorer who is also near-perfect from the charity stripe. Wisconsin transfer Connor Essegian is their best three-point shooter, with Turkish UCLA transfer Berke Buyuktuncel representing their best rebounder with the most size down low.

Maryland is 12-4 all-time against Nebraska, and have lost to them just once in College Park (2017).

Oh good, another team on a three game losing streak, and probably in wounded animal mode. Didn’t take the last team in that situation very seriously. Best be careful or soon they’ll have a three game losing streak of their own.

With the weather coming in we might have an empty arena. Are students still home on break?

Yep, students won’t be back until the 27th.

There is an entire Winter semester in between where you can squeeze an extra class or two.

Yeah my school had that too, I just remember starting spring semester the week before the last week of Jan, but maybe my memory has faded over the years.

My move was 12 credits in spring and fall and take a joke class in winter.

One winter I took some class about European culture or something. Went three times. Got a B

Yeah speaking as a recent-ish grad a winter semester isn't great for a couple weeks of basketball home court advantage but it is a nice way to knock out some credits to give you more free time during the on-campus semesters

Maryland enters this game as 9.5-point favorites. ESPN gives them a 76.1% chance to win.

Defensive energy is good, but far too many low-quality shots for Maryland early on.

Shot selection was clearly a point of emphasis for Willard in that last timeout. Much better.

As was the case against Northwestern, Queen looks completely overmatched on the defensive end.

Currently losing at home to Nebraska. Willard’s tenure normally would be threatened but nobody on campus cares.

Maryland on a nearly four-minute scoring drought. Any energy that existed early on has vanished.
