Yeah his contract was an anchor for a while, and could be again. Just depends on the price.

Yup, when he's healthy and motivated (2024), he's well worth the price. When he's injured (2020-2023), he's obviously not. Depends how much you wanna gamble on an often injured, 31 year old T.

I'd like to see EDC break his pattern of loving additional picks and trade up this year.  Go get one of the top pass rushers or offensive tackles.  They won't be there at 27.

According to Pro Football Rumors, only two offensive tackles project to be first-rounders. As you said, they'll be long gone before the Ravens get to select.

Stanley could receive interest from teams such as New England and Jacksonville, both of whom have the need and the cap space to sign him. Kansas City could also be a dark-horse candidate given their struggles at that position all season and particularly the Super Bowl. I guess a lot depends on whether Stanley's goal is to maximize his value for one last big payday (if so, he's likely gone), or if he wants to be with a team with Super Bowl aspirations. If it's the latter, signing him could be doable.

I've seen suggestions of putting the tag on Stanley, but with the non-exclusive tag this year at $25.156 million, the Ravens would have to do some serious juggling to fit that under their cap.

It’s because Tackle is thin this year. I’d rather have Belton from NcSt

I have no opinion here.

Here are the two NFL.com Draft Profiles:

Conerly Jr.
https://www.nfl.com/...d0-3088e0370977

Belton
https://www.nfl.com/...56-648a1c6ef9d1

Conerly projected in these profiles to have a bit more upside, and Belton projected as a RT.

Stanley will go to whoever gives him the most money. It doesn't matter how good or bad they are. Super Bowl aspirations take a seat way back in the bus when there's millions of dollars involved.

Yep.

There's a small window of opportunity to max out your value for most of these guys. If New England offers the most money, that's where he will end up.

Generally I agree with that assessment and almost everybody goes where the most money is and I expect Stanley to do the same especially if anyone is gonna give him top-5 LT money or even top-10. But Ronnie took a really big paycut this year that surprised me. Maybe that's the only charitable offer he'll make to the Ravens, but I think there is an outside chance he takes less to stay here. But even in that scenario, I think other teams might bid so high that the Ravens decide not to resign him even with the hometown discount.

It’s definitely possible that he’s different and respects that the Ravens overpaid him for a number of years and now he’s willing to stay here for less. Or maybe that’s what this year was already. Maybe he loves this team or the coaches or Lamar and just doesn’t want to go elsewhere. I suppose we’ll see soon, if he’s willing to stay cheap we will certainly sign him. If not I wish him well, no bad feelings in FA for anyone who can get paid even if it didn’t work out great here. Sucks that Watt happened.

I think his lack of reliability/availability overall the prior 4 seasons had a lot to do with him taking the salary adjustment versus a cut. A guy who missed over half of his games the prior 4 seasons might not have commanded a bigger or better deal even if they had cut him loose. I also think Lamar makes him look a little better than he really is, which is worth considering at least. Both by the Ravens and by Stanley. He goes somewhere else where he gets beat and he's in front of a regular pocket passer, I suspect his reputation in that new city is not gonna be very good for long.

The 2024 season was the first in his career that he played every game. At age 30? That's a tough bet to lay big money on repeating itself... at which point the risk vs reward reality of a huge FA deal from a new suitor isn't as clear cut as I think we think.

From Stanley's perspective, if he can get good/fair money to stay for 2 or 3 years, knowing they will be in the hunt for a SB birth come January, and his mistakes will often get mitigated by Lamar... versus maybe a bigger deal elsewhere, outside of a handful of teams the margin of error shrinks and the likelihood of him being a punching bag increases... well that's a decision he'll have to make at some point if the Ravens make any real effort to keep him.

They kind of know where the wins are, and one of the wins that they have hit on numerous times is just drafting great athletes on the edge and just developing them. ... I don't think [Pearce] is an immediate high-end guy, but you're patient enough with this kid and he is going to be a high-end pass rusher."

27) Baltimore Ravens Jalon Walker, EDGE/LB, Georgia

If there was a player built to be a future Raven, it’s Jalon Walker. Walker’s role in the NFL is contingent on how defenses deploy him because of a lack of requisite length to be a full-time pass rusher and the lack of off-ball linebacker reps to be a full-time linebacker. Slotting him into a defense that has found sack production from unlikely sources is the perfect situation for him.

I predict that nothing that kept the Ravens from going to the Superbowl will be solved by the draft.

This is one year I'd like to see them trade up and grab a quality OL or Edge rusher.  They need both.

All the reports about this draft are that if you're in the top-5 you can get an elite talent, but everything from like 5-50 is a giant muddle and it's better to stockpile second rounders.

I'm sure EDC is thinking that way too.  Especially with 11 picks.

27. Baltimore Ravens

Nick Emmanwori, S, South Carolina

This guy is going to catch everyone's eye during combine workouts. His explosiveness at 6-3, 227 pounds is special. But he's more than just traits, having hauled in four interceptions for the Gamecocks this past season. If Baltimore is able to land him at No. 27, it can put him next to Kyle Hamilton and essentially take away the third level of the field. And that'd be a good thing, considering the Ravens allowed 58 plays for 20 or more yards this past season, third most in the NFL.

If he falls to 27, which I seriously doubt, then the Ravens have to take him.  They obviously need to address OL and edge rusher but the thought of pairing him with Hamilton in the back end is enough to make any football fan salivate.

Georgia · S · Junior

If the Ravens stick to their usual script of selecting the best player available in Round 1, it's hard to imagine Starks getting past them at No. 27. The Georgia standout is a versatile defender with an old-school game that fits Baltimore's bully style.
